How to clean the old oil under valve cover
Hello
My car was leaking oil from valve cover gasket area for a while, and finally the gasket was replaced. The dealer did not clean the gunk of oil, and it's still there. I like to clean the oil that way if there is an oil leak, I know right away. Can I just spray oil de greaser to remove those gunk? Spray water down in the engine bay? Do I need to remove the under cover to let water escape to the floor? Some of areas are hard to reach, and I am wondering spraying de greaser is enough to remove those oil stain and gunk. Any advice is welcome. Thank you. |

As suggested, remove the splash tray then clean the area with a degreaser and a nylon brush. The tray over the exhaust manifold should be bright aluminum and I remember how satisfying it was to clean after I DIY'd the VCG.
