I'm having the same issue. I used a 555 timer with a 12>5 buck converter and can't get the seats to wake up with the white controllers |

Using info from this thread and others, I wrote a thorough (3000 words with pics) DIY for anyone looking to put OG M2 seats in their LCI E92. Some of the info will be relevant for other retrofits as well.

Done (sort of)
Hi all.
many years back I owned a 120d. On that I have upgraded some things where dealers officially had me sign papers confirming I was told what I'm trying to do with the parts I want to purchase is impossible. Fast forward to 2025, I own a new to me 2009 330d for replacing the 2009 325i which I have driven for a while. The 325i came with electric and heated seats, the 330d had only heated but not electric seats. The killer feature I wanted to port from the 325i to the 330d was obviously the automatic passenger side mirror movement when reversing. Having a background in electronics engineering, this was going to be simple, right? Nearly. The pinouts in this thread were useful, thanks! On the passenger side all that was missing, was a second positive supply line, and considering the 325 had only one positive supply line for the driver side (but not the passenger), I just split the one that was there for pins 4 and 9. Done, bolsters, heat and movement works. On the driver side IIRC I had to move the positive supply line from pin 9 to pin 4 and connect the CAN-bus. I wired that up to the I-Drive controller. Done, bolsters, heat and movement works. What's missing though is the mirror adjustment when reversing. I have not exchanged the mirrors between the two cars, but i know the 325 has 3 pins in the mirror connector on the passenger side, while the 330d has 5 pins in the connector. I sort of expected to find something something bordsteinkante somewhere, but either I'm using the wrong tools for the job (Launch 123X with the BMW addon paid for and installed), or I'm doing something wrong. Any help greatly appreciated! Cheers from Switzerland! |

int e9x the mirror lin bus is not directly bound to the seats
you can only swap mirrors, repin and add wiring for lin bus and bordsteniautomatik will work the seats with memory only need if you want to bind the memory button, seat position and mirror glass position

Found this thread and will be reading. Just bought an E90 LCI 328i with manual NON-heated seats. We want power seats with heating and memory, and we want the side mirror position memory as well. In the off-chance anyone could point me to a complete DIY off the top of their head, I'd really appreciate it!

side mirror position will only work if your mirrors already 3-pin
if they are 5-pin this function and passenger mirror tilt on reverse will not be available

Hello all!
Can you please help me with my issue? I changed seats on my e92. I had electric whith memory seats and I changed with heated electric with memory seats. No harness adaptation was needed for now. The new seats are from a RHD car and my car is LHD. Everything works but i have 2 problems. 1. When I want to start heated left chair, button that activates the heated is the right one. Same case on the right side, i have to push on the left button. I changed computers under the seats(left to right and right to left) and nothing changes. 2. When i want to move the chair to front, i have to push backwords on the button. Can you please help me ? Thanks! |

bolsters :(
Since I bought my e92 m3 the bolsters/lumbar didn't work. Eventually I decided to check the fuses and I could see that the 10amp fuse had blown, so I replaced it. Voila, the passenger has now got full functionality however! When I hopped into the driver seat, the lumber was working but when I went to adjust the bolster a large puff of burning white smoke came out of the switch on the seats trim panel. The switch has also now broken (i.e. it doesn't click when I push it forward or backwards, the backwards has no feedback). Any ideas of what the fox is? There's a small electronic board behind the switch. Is this worth replacing? Anyone has experience of replacing this? Seems arduous to have to remove the entire seat.
See images of bolster switch and the dredded smoke i managed to remove the switch without removing the seat. I disconnected the plus and opened up the switch and its absolutely fried! i ordered a new switch so hopefully that sorts it. i should in theory ordered a new plug also, as this may create the problem again due to arching or similar. Are these wires soldered on does anyone know? Strangely the lumbar movement is also gone KAPUT ive isolated off the plug for now to prevent any potential mishaps anyone know where id get a new plug? |

Hey, did you ever figure this out? I have non powered, non heated manual seats and trying to switch to m sport powered seats. How exactly did you do this? Since there’s no power I was thinking of connecting pins 4 and 9 on the connector to the chassis and run power and ground that way. Then connect the k can wires on the same connector to the radio or somewhere else in the car. Would that work? Need some advice. |

changing seats and keep using the CAN module
hello,
I have an E92 with sport seats, memory, heated (no lumbar) and therefore the CAN seat module. I want to install recaro sportsters (equipped with PWM heating module and seat occupancy mat). Is there a way to avoid to install a PWM line to the junction box and instead keep the "old" seat module and just connect the heating/OC mat). Has anyone done that or something comparable? |

the plugs to heating are same you'll have to think how to fix the module because it is much larger
