How to lower e90 seat by 1"
I lowered the seat by extending the row of teeth on a gear, but you also have to make clearance in other areas: I took the seat out of the car and turned it upside down. Used my coding/flashing power supply and alligator clips to directly jump power to the seat motors. There are four areas to modify: 1)Extend the teeth using a dremel tool 2)Cut out space in the thick metal piece around the new teeth you made. Use dremel. 3) pound the lip of the metal plate which holds the motor using a hammer and a blunt bar. You could cut it but the motor may then flex due to less ridgidity of the plate. 4) extend the slot to allow the new teeth to become engaged. After each modification of the four areas, run the motor back and forth to see which part is stopping the seat from lowering further. It’s hard to see if the metal plate is the restriction point. Feed in a thin strip of paper into the mechanism and see if it gets stuck at fully lowered. If it’s stuck keep flattening the edge. The UK cushions were from manual sport seats. I measured the height of the lower cushion in its lowest most tilted back position. It was actually a few mm higher than an electric sport seat. Btw the lower seat section is the same for sport & non-sport seats: (wiring harness is different for pneumatic side bolsters) So you can modify a non-sport seat if you want to test it out without modifying your sport seat.
