I bought mirror 51169192335 EC-LED- GTO-COMPASS to put it on my E92 and make it work like HOMELINK.

I also purchased the cable kit 61120434330 and I modified by adding 3 pins of my old mirror with internal condensation sensor.
my car only had the internal condensation sensor, so I had to add the sensor pins to the kit bought on ebay, in short, from two cables I made one

now I have to mount and see what works, but I think I also have to do the coding, and I hope to be able to make my gate opener work

perfect I have assembled everything, coded and everything works fine ... or almost.
EC is fine, as a car is in the back with headlights on it darkens and is beautiful.
delicious compass to see, it has self-set itself after a few km.

only thing I haven't done yet, is memorizing the Homelink gate remote control. I did some tests but it doesn't work. I'll waste some time

unfortunately Homelink npon works. the European frequencies are not compatible with the American ones, and I bought the mirror in America.
now I want to connect a universal receiver to my gate motor that has American frequencies, can you tell me which frequencies are used in America and a link of this receiver if necessary?

310 or 315mhz.

I vaguely recall seeing something about homelink frequencies in the FZD coding options.

I think, but I am not sure, that the mirror frequency was determine by the coded locale.

Guys, i would love to attempt but need some information. Has anyone in this thread retrofitted the homelink when their original mirror was equipped with High Beam Assist?
Thanks!

apparently on my 2007 323i it was pre-wired for this homelink mirror
was entirely plug and play and I was shocked
check your plugs to see if the homelink wire already exist before you order your retrofit kit

I gave up on finding the mirror as 1:There seems to be various make, 2:Being ridiculously expensive (the ones support HBA).3: Uncertainty of frequency support for Australian garage doors.

Instead i got a $40 homelink module from Ebay and modified a E39 Switch and snuck the homelink under the center console trim. Works like a charm plus it has the amber lighting as well

I recently purchased a 328i pre-LCI coupe with the basis rear view mirror and would love to replace it with this retrofit. Quick question since I couldn’t find the answer. Would my vehicle require any additional options to make this work? I’m asking because mine does not have the S302, Alarm System, S5ACA, High Beam Assist, nor S430, Mirror with Auto-Dip, etc. Are these options required for this retrofit or irrelevant? Thanks in advance.

In my E92 LCI 2011 I have a mirror with EC (autodim) and FLA.
So for me, it is just plug and play right because it is already wired. I just have to change the mirror ?

Homelink is done completely in the mirror itself so you need a different mirror.

Purchased a used rear view mirror with full options (FLA Gen1, Alarm, Homelink, Autodim). Mines just have FLA Gen2, and Autodim. Should be Plug and Play. I will also switch the FLA itself so I will use my current FLA Gen2 instead of Gen1.
EDIT:
You cant just swap the FLA itsef. The plugs are different because GEN1 Plug does not fit into GEN2 Plug. Depinning the pins wont work too because the length and the thickness of the male pins are different. Took me 3 hours to test and everytime it said: High Beam Assistant malfunction.

So I gave up. Just sticking to my old mirror with just Electrochromatic and FLA.

The only thing that would help:
1. Buying a GEN2 FLA Mirror with EC and Homelink that is very rare
2. Leave your mirror as it is

Successfully followed this thread for instructions and have a working dimmable mirror! I pulled the mirror and harness from a donor car, and maybe it was newer LCI car, I can't remember that. On my '07 the alarm wouldn't work after the swap, and I noticed the wires were different for the clown nose-only mirror my car had. So I pulled those wires and put in the matching pins on the donor harness, and everything is working!
I also unpinned the ground wire from the old mirror and re-used on this one. Pin 10 on the mirror plug. Ended up taking a LOT longer than I was expecting due to the alarm not working, but really happy to have this working!

Wiring spaghetti:

Big thanks to those that have contributed to the knowledge in this tread, esp xradman!

I performed the homelink mirror retrofit into a stripper model 2011 128i, car that came with the most basic manual dim adjust mirror, rain and condensation sensors on the windshield but no 10 pin harness from the factory.

I picked up 51169192335 mirror (HL, compass, auto-dim) sourced from a 2013 X5 at my local LKQ pick and pull yard, making sure to also grab the donor mirror wire harness all the way back to the black plug at the X5's FZD module in the headliner.

Once home, a quick de-pin of the donor's 10pin wire harness at the mirror end, leaving only the 4 required wires + brown wire as outlined in this thread. Those 5 loose wires were fed through my car's existing boot, 4 snapped into their respective slots in my existing 20pin plug at the FZD + brown wire scotchlok'd to the fat brown wire on the 4pin harness at the FZD. Super straightforward after studying what xradman posted with his same level base car trim. My car's rain and condensation sensor wire harnesses remained untouched.

In my case the entire conversion cost was $18.50 without need to purchase BMW wire harness retrofit kit #61120434330. Super economical if anyone else is considering this and has access to a local pick and pull lot to have control of how much wiring comes along with the donor mirror.

Completed this retrofit on my 2011 e90 base model sedan - taking my time about 2hrs. This car came with the manual dimming rear view mirror, so I sourced p/n 51169192335 which is coded EC (electrochromatic auto-dimming), LED (alarm indicator), GTO (integrated garage remote), and also has the Compass. This thread, along with the BMW retrofit publication, was crucial for completing the job with minimal errors. The mirror I found was in pristine condition but did not have the male plug along with it. My ceiling light cluster did have the 20-pin male plug with the empty pin holes (I suspect most or all cars have this), so rather than spend $$ on the retrofit wire loom from FCP, I just found the 10-pin male plug from salvage (p/n 6909000), the tiny crimp terminals (p/n 61131393724), and made my own wire loom. Grand total for the retrofit was $35. Very gratifying to now have the upgraded features - especially the Homelink - it's the little things... Thanks for all the selfless info you gentle folks provide here. Cheers
