Any benefit to remove both Disa valve altogether?

I am in the process of rebuilding the engine and discovered the flap of the disa valve had broken off completely. It was stuck in the airway and would have cost me the entire engine if parts of it broke and fell into the cylinder.

Now, I have already ordered a new set to replace it but would there be any benefit if I just remove the whole module? I understand the torque below 3750rpm will suffer but in high rpm range will I have a better cleaner flow without the flap in place?

Add to the fact I have a supercharger which only works at high rpm perhaps there is some extra performance to be had?

Less power and a slower car? Even supercharged, it will be down on power and low end torque. In no universe does a single stage make more power. The flaps have nothing to do with "flow".

143k here. Original DISA valves. I suppose I'll need to replace them eventually, but I'm not worried about it.

Well mine broke off so do have a check if you have the time as its not hard to reach, mine is a 2006 vehicle with the old Disa valve parts number.
What you said make sense, I am stilling waiting for the new Disa to arrive, perhaps I can do a little experiment running it with and without and check the real world difference.

mine work fine (you will know if they're not working). If I ever have to replace them, I'll do the starter and CCV as well.

I try to stay strictly with the policy of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". lol

This seems to be just an inevitable problem with these plastic DISA valves.
GAS has supposedly been working on an upgraded part for the N52 DISA but haven't heard anything out of them for a while.

Plastic fin or no, the eventual problem comes down to the servo itself. That or the gear just ends up seizing. That was my last one -- tempted to tear it apart to see if I can isolate the issue.

My large one looks fine. The small one had half the seal missing around the edge where the flap strikes. I bought a used manifold for cheap but the small flap was only marginally better (1/4 missing of the same seal)

Without a picture of your actual DISA unit, it's hard to say. But FWIW, even the new ones look like they're missing a piece. I'll see if I can pull my spare out for example.

Both of mine are missing sections in the same area. One has more missing and you can tell there used to be rubber there.
