'07 335i IAT Sensor Location?

Where is the IAT on an '07 335i?

I'm getting random P0112 faults, which seems to be IAT-related. I'm wondering if it maybe came unplugged, but can't find it....

Regards,
Ray L.

Hi Ray,

It appears that the sensor has a different name & function on turbo models:
"B6583 Intake-temperature/boost-pressure sensor." Here is the TIS "Installation Location"
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...sensor/S8bBVw4

It appears that it measures BOTH boost pressure & air temperature at that point. Here is the schematic for "B6583":
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...supply/xGTqLXk

BTW, P0114 is NOT listed as a DME fault in Bentley. P-codes P0234 to P0238 ARE listed, related to Boost circuit.

OK, the sensor is there, it's plugged in, and, AFACIT, it is working correctly, showing the correct temperature when I monitor it with OBDFusion. Yet, I had a P0112 fault code! P0112 is "IAT Sensor Circuit Low Input". If anything, the sensor value is slightly high - the current ambient temp is ~42F, and OBDFusion is showing ~45F for Input Air Temperature. That is certainly close enough, and does not indicate any fault. So why is it throwing the code?

What should I do? I *think* this is the only thing preventing me from getting the car smog tested, so I need to find a way to make it happy.

Perhaps this is starting to make sense. For much of the last 6 months, I've been getting random P2D2E faults, which is something about throttle position/manifold pressure correlation. This first occurred right after I did a bunch of work on the car (OFH gasket, new valve cover, new coolant pipes/hoses, new intake manifold gasket). It was so persistent, I simply ignored it for months. A few days ago, I pulled the codes, and there is no longer a P2D2E, but is now a P0112, which is Intake Air Temperature Sensor Low Input. I now know BOTH of those codes come from the same sensor, on the intake pipe.

So, flaky sensor, or something else? Seems unlikely the sensor would fail as a result of the work I did 6 months ago. So what could I have done wrong that would explain this? I have never seen ANY other faults, and the engine runs perfectly. Fuel trims are all in the low single-digits, so no air leaks are indicated.

This is an '07 335i with ~110K miles on it.

Regards,
Ray L.
