Yeah it isn't too expensive, but because our exhaust from the headers back is all one piece and our OE resonator also acts as the merge for our "y-pipe," deleting the resonator isn't quite as easy as just welding in one pipe, unfortunately, as it is with many cars. You'd need to weld in a Y collector as well as some piping so it would be 6 welds total. My guesstimate is about $100-200 for parts and labor, depending on the shop/quality of work. Probably about the same you'd pay to have a shop weld pipes in place of the secondary cats. Or you could just buy my aFe race pipes for sale in the classifieds section.

BimmerNugget, my suggestion to you is delete the secondary cats. This should give you more sound, more rasp, and more power.
I will be catless for a bit, so I will test it out then decide. My current set up is pretty damn good. Curious to see how it will change with the AA header install.

Loud. If you ever catch me on the highway, it's obnoxious. Cruising is fine though.

NASA season opener today at Lime Rock, really loving the exhaust sound. Drive to/from home is drone free but it comes alive under WOT

Always love exhaust sound thread lol, here is my contribution;

130i 6MT with mods concerning sound;
- Vortech V3 at 6psi (it doesn't make a lot of sound tbh.)
- Custom K&N intake located at foglight area.
- OEM header and OEM resonator.
- BMW Performance Exhaust.

It sounds nice form the outside but very quiet in the cabin... considering to have the resonator delete.

Exhaust sound clips of my BMW Z4 3.0si N52

custom 2.5” single outlet Magnaflow catback exhaust (1) 14" round resonator MF (1) 14" oval muffler MF, Supersprint catless headers, (1) secondary OEM cat, and BPC header tune

It doesnt drone ever, slight rasp but nothing like a S54 headered rasp, and its relatively quiet untill 3.5k rpm to redline. Authority never ever bats an eye when i drive near them civilly LOL

^ Sounds really great! Just to be clear, you cut out your secondary cats and then re-installed ONE of them downstream? So is your piping past the merge that small (just over 2 inches or whatever)?

Thanks! Basically the exhaust doesnt contain any oem bmw piping/components, except for (1) oem secondary cat. All the piping and sound dampening components are 2.5” ID except for the oem secondary cat ID at 2.125” near the header exits, a bit of a bottle neck but I wanted it inline because I live in CA and wanted to dial down the stank/sound!

They look like the exact same tips I have with my Magnaflow muffler. 3"

Edit: I'll be selling those tips by the way, changing to a different setup. $50 shipped if anyone's interested

Thanks! Honestly, I don't remember which model it was. I'd have to try and find the reciept, but here's a better shot of it.

Question for the exhaust gurus on here:
Currently have a muffler delete on my 328i looking to get a little more backfire(pop) from it, what would be better a muffler delete + resonator delete or a muffler delete + secondary cat delete? TIA

Post Schmiedmann exhaust

Reposting this from the other media exhaust thread (stickied one):

Installed a Schmiedmann (Euro BMW specialist based in Denmark) exhaust on my euro 325i 2006 (N52B25 with 218hp). Dual pipes with one muffler and x-pipe instead of the stock dual pipes to resonator followed by one pipe to rear muffler.
I quickly put together a sloppy little video with a comparison with stock exhaust etc:

The system is built by Supersprint in Italy for Schmiedmann. I think it's only produced after ordering so I think I bought the last one in stock in Denmark via Schmiedmann Sweden. Link to product: https://www.schmiedmann.com/en/bmw-e...=SCM9091R276NR
