BMW 335i N54 goes into limp mode on acceleration :(
Hello everyone, this is my first post, I have a very frustrating problem with my 335i. Any time I accelerate above 3000 RPM. The car goes into limp mode and idles very rough. I’ve scanned the Car with the MHD app and have received the following codes.
2e33 Fuel injector activation 2e34 Fuel injector activation 2e35 Fuel injector activation I doubt all three injectors can go bad at the same time, besides, when the Car is turned off, and on again, it works perfectly fine until accelerated. The spark plugs and rocker cover gasket were replaced 10,000 km ago. I’ve also cleaned the vanos solenoids and still nothing changed. Please advise me on what to do. Thanks |

sounds like your DME Mosfets have gone bad. I would say check your O2 sensors but you would have had Lambda codes if they were shot. Also, very unlikely for all 3 injectors to go kaput.
MSD80 DME on earlier year vehicles have a problem with weak mosfets which will go bad causing misfires, limp mode on one Bank or both. the cheapest fix is to snag a DME from a local junkyard and have a programming shop clone your old DME to the new DME. Should be relatively cheap. |

I appreciate the support. Would it be possible if the problem was from the HPFP? I really would like it not to be but as soon as I reset the adaptations for the HPFP the problem was solved and no codes were thrown up. I’m assuming they’ll most likely come back since I don’t expect any issues to magically disappear with this car. If the dme is the issue then it’ll be a much cheaper alternative to an expensive oem HPFP and spending a whole day trying to fit that in. |

easiest way to diagnose hpfp is to run a log with mhd. pressure at idle should be around 700psi and at wide open throttle should not go below 1500psi.
start the log, drive like normal, and then do a pull in 3rd gear from 2500rpm to redline. log your fuel rail pressure, lpfp, stft 1 and 2 and post them to datazap. also what year is your car? If you have production date later than 03/08, your DME should be okay. |

I can definitely to a log and and get the chart from datazap to see what’s going on. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately it’s a 07 model so the dme might be no good. Guess I’ll start searching for a new one. Would it have to be from the same year? Or can I use a dme for a e93 335 from any yr? |
