Seems like most of you guys want catted downpipes. So I have been working on them. Should have something for you very soon. As always they will be priced very well. So how many of you want that thermal coating on them as well? Im trying to keep the price around $600-650 catted with the thermal coating. Any thoughts?

The stock downpipes dont have a flex section. The ribbed area that you think is a flex section is actually there as a coupler. Furthermore, our engineers dont feel that it is necessary to have a flex section with this application.

If there is a thermal coating fine if not, fine with me as well. Stock downpipe look is the best for me.

Hi Vince,

Good quality catted DP's for 600 would make my day! IMO thermal coating is not something that i value.

Any ETA on catted DP's?

+1

I prefer the "stealth" look. The more the catted downpipes look similar to the OEM downpipes the better it is!

FWIW if you look pictures of the stock downpipes, cut in cross section, you will see that there is a pipe within a pipe.

The outer (external) pipe that we all see has the accordion section.

But the inner pipe does not!

So I don't think the accordion is so much about flexion as it is perhaps about containing thermal expansion of the metal.

Once heated up, the exhaust system can grow in length, so perhaps this accordion section is to minimize the effects of heat expansion?

Doesn't make sense to me that it is for flexion given there is a solid inner pipe. How would the inner pipe flex?

Just enjoyed a good read this morning going through this topic.

Vince, I'm interested in this DP but need to hear how the fitment is before buying (at an attractive price). I didnt see any info about fitment of your DPs in our forum yet. Can you or someone else help me on this?
