Just installed my jb4 and now im having some issues HELPP!!

Alright, so I'm usually a lurker/searcher, but I've finally run in to a few problems I can't seem to get straight answers for.

So I just installed my jb4 yesterday on my 2011 E90 335i, since then I've had a few problems.

This morning I noticed my driver and passenger windows would not automatically go up. I remedied this by finding out I could "reset" my windows by holding the switch in the up position for a couple second. I attribute this problem to the fact that I disconnected my battery to install the jb4.

Next thing I noticed was my windshield wipers were acting up. I would push down, to make the wipers wipe once, but they wiped 7 or 8 times then stopped in the middle or straight up and down on my windshield. This just happened this morning and I have not had time to tinker with it, but if you have any suggestions I'm open to hear them.

Now on to my jb4 caused problem. I noticed that when I have it on map 5 their is a not so faint whistle while cruising, slowing to a stop, and a little while during the stop but not long enough to get out and find the noise. I know this whistle isn't the turbo because I know what that sounds like, this is not high pitch. Also, if I put the car in park the whistle immediately stops.
I know this is a jb4 problem because if I put it on map 0 while slowing down (with the car making the noise) the sounds goes away with in seconds of turning it off. I bought this jb4 used so maybe some setting has been changed by the previous owner. It's their any way to reset the jb4 to factory settings?
Any help would be great.

I also got a jb4 connect kit. Rev 2 I think. It's the connect kit that has a usb cable only connected to it. I ran the usb cable from the jb4 in to the glove box and then I plugged the connect kit usb (power) cable into two different car chargers to rule that out.
My problem is with pairing the device to my phone. When I try to pair through Bluetooth to my galaxy s6 it asks for a pin but says to try 1234 or 0000. When I try 1234 it said "unable to connect to jb4 h11" or something similar to that. When I try 0000 it says "can't pair" or something like that. I find it strange that the different pins give different errors. I have the app but when I hit connect it said something about a serial port.
Any help with figuring this out would be great too.

Thanks in advance, Dylan.

Possibly the wastegate rattle settings programmed into the JB4 from the previous owner. If it goes on and off with JB4, that would be the first thing I'd check.

Thanks, ill try that out. I read about waste gate rattle, but didn't think too much about it because my noise didn't sound like a rattle.

Edit: just did some research into what exactly wastegate rattle sounds like and thats not what I'm hearing. I'm hearing a high pitch constant whistle.

I just read over that post and went to look at my car. Bam, I saw a crack in the corrugated (if you will) pipe running from the engine to the intake. How would I go about buying that part? Not sure what it's called, but I can take a picture if need be.
Thanks.

Good call, that is easy to check. My CPO runs out next month and I will be double checking mine before then.

These two pictures are pictures I found from another thread because the pictures I took had too high of a resolution.

The corrugated pipe with the white band is the one that is cracked on my car, what is this, and why would it cause a whistle? A part number would be great because even if this isn't causing the whistle it needs to be replaced.

Thats all I can think of so far, it not a wastegate rattle. It's a high pitch whine/whistle.

I have other questions up there too that I need help with. Ha

About the weird stuff happening with wipers and windows... I would recheck your CAN wire connections. Also, get a new vent hose ASAP. The noise you're hearing is air getting past your front main seal which will eventually fail!

It's the vent line the corrugated pipe I posted pictures of?

If that pipe is cracked as you stated above, then i'm assuming your PCV system is not able to function properly. If the noise doesn't go away after you replace the pipe, then its very likely PCV has failed which is actually very common and easy to diagnose. Here are a few links that may help:

Get the bms oil catch can. It replaces that whole hose when installed and keeps crap out of your engine! Mine broke when installing the bms catch can. Very fragile!

So turns out I needed a new valve cover. I will be replacing it this weekend thanks for the help in figuring out what was wrong.

However, new issues have come up.
If I WOT it sometimes I get very noticeable turbo lag. Much more than before, but sometimes I get the engine malfunction and reduced power output. I can tell when I'm going to get this code because it seems like I have no boost at all. This is all while on map 0 because Im waiting for the new VC for higher maps.

The thing that's throwing me off is that i can't read the code that it's throwing with the JB4. It seems like after the code happens the JB4 will not turn on by pressing down on both buttons on the wheel. I've run into this problem before but now it's a bigger deal. Just 30 minutes ago I made it throw the code by WOT next to an advanced and they checked for the code but couldn't find anything.

Need help reading the code and finding out why my JB4 doesn't turn on sometime.

Thanks.

I had the exact same issue after installing my JB4. I had the valve cover replaced and the sound is now gone. I also was having loss of power/boost at WOT but that is gone too. I don't know why but my JB4 won't turn on sometimes but it always does if I wait a couple minutes. It really only happened a few times so it's no big deal.

Thanks, I replaced my valve cover this past weekend. Problem solved. No more reduced power or whistling. Have yet to have the jb4 not active, but ive only driven my car a few times since. Valve cover change wasn't too terrible, just time consuming.
