f80 lower control arms?

I can't find the thread, but I believe I read somewhere on e90post that the F80 LCAs will work on the e90, and provide an additional amound of neg camber over the e90 M3 arms.

Any insight?

This may be possible as the lower wishbone can mount into subframe

If one uses m4 arm it's possible that the result will be as 2 deg camber

Problem is the m4 arm is longer than m3 e9x and that may cause issues that involve steering

Harold mentions use of arm spacers to get the right fit on e9xM3

Hmm, so then it sounds like the f22 and f30 arms are in the middle of the e90M and F80 LCA length making the f22/f30 LCA a further upgrade in terms of gaining neg camber over the e90M arms (though the bushings are likely much softer.

Yes, that is possible. You will need to make a spacer to center the arm.

I have always been surprised that no one makes a adjustable control arm like these, for BMWs.

Control Arms

Please not that we've removed the font cover to better show the suspension.

Front control arm (or lower wishbone as it's sometimes called) has been redesigned for the GT3, but the functionality stayed the same. We've seen the same design in the previous generation (997) GT3 Cup cars (track-only version of the GT3). The Length of the arm is adjustable by replacing or adding larger shims between the arm and the rear bushing mount. Extending length of the arm achieves added negative camber.

Single shear ball joints that are used on 991s, and all previouse generations of the GT3 street cars, is replaced with a double shear joint that bolts through the redesigned wheel carrier. The double shear substantially increases strength. Furthermore it enhances safety because a failure of the spherical doesn't cause complete loss of control of the wheel.

Another interesting observation to note is that bolt heads have been bored. The only reason we can think of is to save weight.

For comparison, on the left is previous generation of the GT3 control arm, and on the right is the current control arm found on regular non-GT3 991 cars. Note that both arms include a ball joint and not a bearing.

Porsche 911 GT3 comes with factory adjustable arms, which can replacing/adding larger shims to the arms. It is a much durable design than the typical thread and lock nut designs that we see for the aftermarket toe arms on our platforms.

I'm sorry I don't follow can you explain what you mean where the space would need to go and why? What about the f30 arm vs the f80 arm on my e90?

Thanks

The mounting point on the subframe side is dimensionally different. Go to the link in post#2.
