Nice write up.
The bavauto site has published opposite specs - they say to use the 2ohm with Logic7 and 4ohm for HiFi. Can someone please confirm that this is incorrect? I just ordered the 2 ohm for my L7 car and want to switch speakers if needed. ty!

I have a 07/2009 build UK car with base stereo. My 6.5" were bolted and not glued. Maybe this is a slight difference between US and UK specs?

It was a production change after 09/09.

SWS 8xi

For what it's worth, I have a pair of undersea sws8xi subs in their original boxes .....these are the 2 ohms.....used for less than a month...purchased from amazon 2 months ago. (proof with amazon receipt)
Oh...and I have the spacers and connectors too.

It's hits hard...the wife doesn't want it...so it's got a go.
Just in case if anyone is interested....

Instead of bumping every thread involving the Earthquakes, how about making just one post in the FS section, where it belongs?

So are these still the best option as far as producing bass? I don't want to go the trunk enclosure route for multiple reasons... any input appreciated.

Hey man, I had looked at the SWS subs but thought they were pricey and there were mixed reviews.

I recently had Helix match speakers and thought the sub was good, I then changed the speakers and sub for Focal, and sounds so much better. The bass on the focal underseat sub woofer sounds amazing, goes lower and you do feel the seats vibrate as if you getting a massage!

I would say just check them out

Thanks for the response. But how does it compare to the stock underseat sub (logic 7 I believe). Because that definitely vibrates the seat but I need more haha.

Well having a good AMP does make a whole lot of difference, if I wanted to shake my car to pieces I can as the gains on my amp are less than half and the subs hit low as anything I have heard.

I have heard the Logic 7 and it does sound good but doesn't go as low, have heard them in my uncle's X5 and also an M4 at a showroom.

I have couple vids of the focals in my signature but again won't do it justice, have to be there to hear it and feel it!

Does it mean that those ppl who would like to improve their basic sound system they can just add HiFi Subs (2 ohm) + Logic 7 Mids (2ohm) and Tweeters (4 ohm) = 8ohms all together - this means that HU will not be fried because the factory setup comes with 4 ohm 6.5" subs and 4 ohm mid-bass speakers in front = 8 ohms, but we will still be able to hear the difference in terms of a deeper bass and crispier treble tones thanks to (a lot) better speaker setup. This is something for people who would like to keep OEM feel and not to bother with amps and processors etc...just my 2 cents....pls let me know your thoughts on this guys....thanks!

No, it doesn't work like that. You're better off installing aftermarket sets from Jehnert or others but they will not sound good until you have added an aftermarket amp, and taken care of (cleaned-up) the signal from the head unit.

Amp

What do you mean by clean up the signal? I'm thinking about doing upgraded door speakers. Already have a sub and amp for it and Jehnert under seat subs.

The eq from the base system is noted to be very unflat.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ighlight=graph

recoding to Hi Fi or using a flattening device like a cleansweep or dsp is recommended.

This is a problem with the base system only .

Can someone please help me find some spacers for the 8s under the seats? I have been searching too to bottom and I'm pretty new to the forums. Any help is appreciated.

I had these ones:

http://www.audiotec-fischer.de/lng/e...fvasfuhrbgb7q9

However after changing to Focal, the Focal are so much better, tigheter bass, more clarity sounds so good!.

My uncle has 640D, with Harman Kardon, it sounds good but the bass just isn't that tight I mean it has lots of bass but with Focal you can actually feel the bass!
