No Sound Coming From Speakers...

Hey everyone. My first post on here. A couple of weeks ago, my radio was cutting in and out and eventually just went silent. I asked a buddy of mine who is a "genius" at the local BMW dealer and he said the one tech who knows e90s in and out said a board was probably fried somewhere in the head unit. So I snagged a head unit off of someone who was parting an e90 out. Replaced it, still didn't work.

I'm thinking the only other thing it could be is the amp. The seal on the bottom of my rear window is coming off, so water could've possibly got in there... So the first question I have is, do you think replacing the amp would be the next move?

Also, there is the option to bypass the stock amp (logic 7) and go with an aftermarket one. I know there are tons of threads on that, so I'm sorry for starting a new one. However, I'm confused on where to pull the signal from the head unit from... Because it is a fiber optic cable that runs from the head unit to the amp, where do you pull the signal from? I'm thinking if I run an aftermarket amp, I can just connect it to the stock wires (to the speakers) coming off the existing amp. Is this correct?

Any help would be appreciated.

Logic 7 systems from BMW are not simple .
Because they use the MOST fiber optic system.
There is very little that is compatible with it, and what is
is expensive and kind of exotic.

This subject has already been hashed to death over and
over that why there is an audio up grade sticky .(in the stickys
at the top of this sub forum)

Your genius at the BMW place is more likely an idiot.
The most common problem with these is the amp getting drowned due to water leaks. Second most common problem is the TCU or the Sat module goes out.

Also the head unit's are programmed for the sound system
in the car unless it came from another car that was programmed for Logic 7 it won't work in your car unless it is.
There are two other sound systems it could be programmed
for.

Logic 7

The logic 7 is a 9 channel amp .
to run something else the head unit has to be reprogrammed to run analog signals and harness that supports them installed or there is now a fiberoptic to analog converther made by Avin

I would fix the amp at the places mentioned in the links
if that is the problem. After the leak is fixed.

Ok, seems that the amp is ok because it is blinking yellow. It says to check the next unit in the loop.

This is what I have, so I assume it would be whatever this box is. Is there anything else in the "loop?" Also, if I just get a bypass for this, will it work and not sacrifice anything else?

Thanks in advance.

The satellite module is usually on that side or an HD radio iboc
module. Yes get a Most jumper and see if the sound comes back
or you can also route it out of the Most loop at the Most junction
as described in the Logic 7 links.
If you run your cars Vin through one of the Free online Vin checkers
it will tell you what if came with in the way of options.

https://www.bmwvin.com/

The module should be labeled.
As far as I know everything that is in the loop would be in the area
you are looking at.
Be sure to use the original head unit as it is programmed for
L7 and whatever option the module in the trunk covers.

Thanks, I ordered a MOST jumper but it was the male and I needed female, so I'll reorder one and see if it works. I couldn't figure out which link talked about bypassing the satellite module (which I believe is what I have based on the VIN decoder). The only one that talks about how to reroute stuff is this one:
https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=727663

Could you point me to anywhere that specifically talks about routing out that module because if the jumper doesn't work, I'd like to try that next.

Thanks again.

Also, I should mention that I do have a seat belt chime... which seems to go away when people experience similar problems to mine.

Depending on the year all or some of the chimes are routed
through the stereo . So no stereo no chimes.
About the only year that has a separate chime speaker is the 06 and
it may depend on which sound system and head unit is installed.

If the jumper doesn't work there is no point in rerouting the Most
Bus. It's pretty simple there is and in and out line for each module
at the most blocks.

The jumper does the same thing as the rerouting.

Ok, I'm starting to get pretty frustrated by this thing. The jumper didn't work. Is there any chance it's something to do with the battery? I disconnected it at one point before this started happening... I'm really trying to avoid taking it to the dealership.

More likely the amp I would call the Logic 7 amp guy from
the thread that tells you what the amp indicators do.
Also there was one instance where rats ate the fiberoptic
and other wiring.

I would also try to find a local Indy if it comes down to that.

If it's the amp, what would make it be a blinking yellow? Taken from the site you provided: "Blinking yellow means AMPLIFIER IS WORKING and getting input signal from the head unit, but output signal is somewhere lost due to the next bad unit in the loop. So you just need to find a bad unit and either bypass it or replace it with a working one. Most common units to fail are: Sirius satellite unit, Bluetooth telephone unit"

I also tried bypassing the amp... wouldn't that make it work temporarily too?

All the sound comes through the amp how do think that would
make it work . How is that going to give you and indication of anything?
If you had SOS and the SOS light went out it might give a relative
indication but you don't that module is not there.
Based on no sound from speakers in your post first post.
Does the face of the Radio light up can you select Radio , cd and tuner?

The guy in that video had a bad Sat module when he fixed the no sound problem
sound came alive because the most loop was completed. The most loop could be complete but the output of the amp bad. If you had a spare amp that you
knew worked I would swap that in . Since you don't I would call he logic 7
amp repair guy to see if the can give better guidance .
