Home security system recommendations in MD?

Not the best place to ask, but I figured I would try

Anyone have any recommendations for home security? I am getting tired of paying for my existing home security when the provider has yet to come and give me a tutorial the 2 years I have lived here (even after several phone calls). I pay $26.50/month and would like to stay around that rate.

I have ADT. Happy so far. They explained everything to us in person when we got the system installed. If you are a member of USAA you can get a reduced rate.

System works great! Had the fire dept show up during my kid's Halloween party, cause the fog machine set off the smoke detector. A little embarassing but the kids thought it was great.

I pay a discounted rate for USAA members and I think it's like $19+ per month maybe??? but not 100% postive though. If I recall correctly the install was free but I had to sign up for something like a 3 yr contract, again this was a program special for USAA members, not sure what the standard retail deal is.

Brink home security is the best alternate, and you should try this.

I installed a DSC System, not one issue in 16 years. Monitored by Protection One. They always call 1st before the police to prevent false alarm costs assessed by the county. Which most jurisdictions do now.

So do you think protection one can use the existing system in my home? Their prices seem reasonable.

Yes, Protection One is my monitoring company. I pay $24/ month which includes maintenance of my system. If what you have has some age to it you may want to conceder that too with the monitoring. Protection One will monitor whatever alarm system you have. I think ADT and Brinks, now Broadview may require their system installed. Protection One is the second largest alarm co. in the USA. Please feel free to PM me with your questions.

i was looking at the 500 but i think im leaning towards the 590. I had some fun with an ar-15 yesterday, thats a great gun, but when the gun show comes here in a month im going to get one of the mossbergs with some goodies on it.

As a builder I have a couple of good groups to recommend. Small local setups that have equipment that others can work on if you sell the house and not proprietary as some of the bigger ones.

Ultraguard Security. Fred Gray is the Owner and does most of our whole house remodels and new homes. Based out of Gaithersburg. Also does home theater, cameras, etc.
