Show me your painted calipers!

I originally put my rears black didn't have time to do front. I'm having seconds thoughts on a different color though. Show me yours!

I went with sapphire blue and had a local shop poweder coat them. Rebuild them with new seals and copper slide bushings. See below for all my pics. The spring clip looked a different colour, but it was due to the different material (I thought it was a mistake).

I want to powder coat them in BMW Blue. I'm just a little skittish about the piston seal and getting it back on correctly.

Can't find a good/great DIY on how to do that.

Been down the G2 paint road. Great Stuff, but expensive and doesn't really last in a "salt" state. Paint holds up well, but nicks a lot and then salt creeps in.

The piston seal is the easy part, screwing around with the dust boot can be a total PITA if they don't properly tape off the surrounding lip it uses to hold itself in place. Before I did the powder coat route I did what you mentioned with some high temp caliper paint. Even went as far as getting them sand blasted. Even after a couple a coats of the high temp paint & clear, they still would nick up and start localized rusting. The PC was expensive but god damn does it ever hold up!

Let's just say, the lip is taped off. How difficult is the dust boot to get back on? Is there a special tool used or one could make?

Only real specialized tool is a compressor with an air blower tool with a tapered tip to remove the piston. Just shove the tip into the brake line hole after you remove it to push out the piston. I did use a flat head screw driver to push the dust seal into place around the areas I could not access with my fingers, but I would hardly call that a specialized tool.

Hmm. I wonder if a thin piece of pvc pipe would fit in there and you could press the dust boot on using a brake caliper piston press on tool. The diameter of the pipe would have to really close to spot on though, in order for it to push the metal ring inside the dust boot over the lip.

I ended up doing mine black. Yellow may have turned out well.

Really wanted to do the M vinyl thing but would've been MRice IMO on stock brakes and no factory M option.

That looks awesome. I've been too lazy to powdercoat and install my 335i front brake kit. Who did the work?

Kingsman Kustoms, which really just sub it out to a specialist. The work was well done though, so even though they were $$ I'm happy with the finished product.

Hey I didn't know lifts like this existed. Wouldn't this be a better option for normal height sized home garage?

The entire length of the piston has to be installed below ground, I couldn't see this being added to a typical home garage without a crap ton of effort to make work.

Yeah I realised that after but still imagine in a new home construction with no garage yet. Imagine if like under the conrete it's all enclosed inside the box. Couldn't you plop in the box then pour around.

But yeah I guess it's not to practical to install if concrete is already there.... but man that lifts looks sick doesn't have posts in the way.
