Please advise!! This good overall ipod solution doesnt work for those of us with the video ipod who also want to use the remote control - because the airclick for the video ipod doesnt have passthrough dock connector for the charger
Has anyone found a solution for this? Still being able to use the remote

Another non-integrated solution that appears to use the dock connector audio out (but, this one is non-powered):

I was wondering what they were going to do for those that have the IPOD video.

For the patch cables, gold-plated connectors are nice, but it's been debated whether or not they improve sound quality (probably really doesn't matter since mp3 is already stripping out quality). What you really want is a high-quality shielded cable to keep out interference (especially from the engine).

Instead of the airclick, I've ordered one of these. They're on backorder everywhere, but I think the concept is a great idea. It is $100 everywhere I've seen, but I'm thinking it'll be worth the money.

I saw that too. I'm just wondering if the Monster charger setup's the way to go... I'm not crazy about the 6ft long pile of cable in the center counsel; but there doesn't seem to be many other options. Thinking I may just start with the headphone to aux cable and go from there. See how the sound quality is (I currently have an FM transmitter; so anything'll be an improvement), plus see how quickly my iPod drains down. (not like I can't just plug it in next to my cell phone each night)

I purchased the Monster Ultra-Low Profile Charger for iPod® with Dock Connection on sale for $19.95 at the monster cable outlet site http://store.monstercable.com/outlet...id=86&catid=24
For the stereo audio cable I purchased the RadioShack 1 ft shielded stereo audio cable (42-2497) for $4.95.

I've seen the belkin auto kit going for maybe 10$ on ebay... can anyone verify though if the cigarette adapter fits in the center console? I know the height is definitely an issue and I will buy the more expensive monster setup if the belkin doesn't fit properly.

Also, in the meantime, I setup the volume limit on the ipod to about 80%. This way, I can always set the max volume on the ipod without distortion. I set the aux volume gain to the max as well, at 6. Sounds great, but would be nice to have the charging occur while it's playing...

Here's what I personally think is the best setup.
iPod with SiK Ram Din cable. You can connect a charger for cheap but I haven't really needed one. Just get a stereo cable to extend it a bit and you're good. My black iPod and black cord match my interior very well. I make playlists and let it take care of the rest, and since my car's a stick, my right hand's always in that area in case I want to skip a track. Works well for me. And yes, it does close right over the cables.

I just purchased the Monster Cable Charger and a mini to mini patch cable and the sytem works great in my E90 whether it is charging/engine running/not charging. My problem is my 2003 E85 Z4. I have a BMW Aux port installed in the E85 and the IPOD sounds very good through this port until I plug the charger in and then strange noises/sounds come through the speakers. This happens only when the engine is running. Is there a filter on the alternator that the E90 has that the E85 does not or is there something else wrong? Any help here would be appreciated.

Yes....I am running through the Aux port on the charger, but the noise is present in both the Aux port and the headphone port....I did not make any changes in the IPOD because the same settings/set up worked fine in the E90

I just started using the low profile Monster iCarCharger and the Scosche iPod Nano RF Remote and it seems like a decent solution. The small remote lets you move back and forth between songs, pause, control the iPod's volume, shuffle and lets you switch playlists.

So I went ahead and bought the Monster Cable and a short patch cable. I also bought a case to protect my iPod (a 30GB 5th generation black iPod) and realized that the case wouldn't allow the Monster Cable to connect (it couldn't fit through the opening in the case). Does anyone have a recommendation on a good case which would allow the cable to connect?
