2011 335i N55 Break-In Oil Change Analysis

I figured I would post this up, just in case anyone was interested in seeing it. I can't wait to see how the next analysis looks at 5k miles, since I am now running Castrol Syntec Euro Formula 0W-30 (German Castrol).

What does the report show, in layman's terms?

No reason to change that soon. 5,000-7,500 is fine.

I agree, but the svc mgr told me if it were his car, and he owned it, he would do a break-in oil change. M cars get it, why not a N54? On the other hand, he also said it's perhaps an outdated way of thinking and possibly unnecessary. Still, he said he'd do it on my 335 as long as it weren't leased. So I paid $73 and did mine at 1,600 (400 miles late)

Doesn't look like they tested it to me, all the numbers are the same.

I got my 2011 335i m sport on July 7th and as of today I have 1030 miles...lol. Yea I have been driving the hell out of it. When I surpass the 1200 miles break in mark, would you guys recommend I get an oil change? This is something the dealer should do correct?

thanks for the advice...

That's a light 30w oil. What's the part number for the oil referenced inside the engine bay?

Take the car out and enjoy it.
On this other thread I started, some of the guys were suggesting that I change the oil and filter after 1200 miles because it may help in the long run.

"Dump that oil and filter at 1200 miles, no matter what others tell you, its cheap and may pay dividends for ever. If I owned a 335i I would change fuel filter after break in too, I suspect that may help you avoid HPFP failures by making sure you fuel system is clean since no one can say why the failures happen, but that's just me."

What do you guys think regarding that statement (click link to see more)?

thanks for the advice...

do it

not to agree or disagree with anyone
1350 is too soon for oil change but a DIY only cost you around $60 and 30 minutes, It might not do anything to the engine but it wouldn't hurt it either

its like saying should I wax my car right after 1st day delivery....helll no you dont need to but if you own the car at least you feel good about it

The oil was very thin when I drained it. It seemed almost as thin as water. It was definitely the thinnest oil I have ever drained from a crankcase.

The motor oil part number under the hood is: 07.51-0 002 545.
