The thing is launch control on the M cars including the new M3 and M4 requires you to turn off the TC. My Bro runs his M5 with the TC fully disabled and did his best 12.3 with the TC off and launch control. Absolutely hammers the clutch though so he didn't fancy doing it again. The torque on a 5 litre NA is still lower than a tuned 335i and comes in much higher up the rev range. With us it's pretty instant at 1300 rpm or there abouts. Tuned, we are putting out more Torque than stock 335Ds. Think this was aquaplaning but https://youtu.be/3VwgvIqXg3A?t=2m27s and If the wheels spin. You better be straight as an arrow. I'm sticking to DTC mode

It's the really smooth rubber surface made from drag tyres.
For some reason my street tyres grip better on regular roads than they do on that surface.

Interesting Wiki...quote " Santa Pod remains the fastest all-asphalt dragstrip in the world since most North American tracks are partially or entirely concrete in construction."
I wonder if this hinders standard road tyres?

I,ve been going to Santa pod since 1988 & have taken all my cars up there.
As the track is very rubbery i found that my better times were on hotter days when it hadn't rained for a while. Imo on colder days or if it has been raining the day or a couple of days before the track seems to offer less grip. Doesn't look as though it will be worth going this Saturday as weather app says wet & only 8 degrees. I don't wanna do a 5 hr round journey to sit there spinning wheels. Back in the good old days my beetle used to run mid 16s & my best terminal speed was 86mph, how times have changed.

You can often see on the US tracks where the rubber isn't laid down. They have 2 narrow strips that have been prepped. Santa Pod looks very well covered the whole width of the racing surface. I think road tyres just aren't sticky enough and our cool, wet weather doesn't help us. I can only imagine it's the weather (and E85) that separates us from the US guys running 11's on run flats etc Surely it's not the altitude.

I didn't run 0 boost at Santa Pod. I've gone as low as about 5 psi in 1st. My best ever 2.226 sec 60ft time was done with no boost reduction at all. Go figure!?

Also best I've achieved in mine is 12.96 last year at the Bmw show day. I've got the inlets now and better geo.

Mixed
Still got wheel spin at 7 psi. The 1st gear is very short on the DCT but I think the bigger issue is the way the clutches are designed to work for road use in 1st and 2nd. They don't lock up until about 2200 rpm. If you have your foot down when they do you go from not having enough power to all of a sudden having too much. Like being full throttle with a clutch 50% depressed and then all of a sudden taking your foot off the clutch completely There may be other mechanisms involved as well like velocity dependent throttle aggression. I've seen it in Tuner Pro.

Sorry. Typing too quickly. Made errors, then it could be written better and thinking up other things...

Yes for you auto guys brake boosting (in 2nd by the look of it) is the way to succeed. I've seen 3.5 sec 0-60s on modded cars.

The DCT wont build boost like that and decouples the clutch if you try and brake boost after about a second.

What's with these times?
Cold, damp non rubber surface perhaps?

Brake boosting is done from a rolling start
