I'm having this same issue. However, there's no codes being reported. It just quietly shuts off when slowing down sometimes. Will lose power steering. If I try to start it up again, it starts up without an issue. It's super dangerous driving around with it.

Anyone else experiencing this issue and how did you solve it? My mechanics have checked fuel pump, power supply, and even the gas tank. They can't figure this one out.

It's a 2011 335i (N55/E93).
You know what is important to know. By shutting down quietly do you mean just the engine shuts down or the Dash lights too ?

Just the engine. The wheel doesn't lock, but the power steering goes down.

I was talking to my mechanic today, and he experienced the same issue. You don't even realize it turns off. It happens very quietly.

Your mechanic should retrieve frame freeze data. To investigate this issue all critical sensors have to be read. Alternator and battery performance voltage charging currents everything..

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 'freeze frame data.' My mechanic stated that it's not reporting out any errors. So I don't know if 'freeze frame data' is a way to dive deeper into that?

My current findings suggest it could be a software update:

There's a thread on 1addicts where many people experience a similar issue:

If you dont know what i mean then use google. I am not going to spend more time here discussing this and doing all the research for you. Ask your mechanic to do that if he doesnt know too you are using the wrong mechanic..

Frame freeze data is not checking codes... its more than that

Some codes have dual meanings. 29D0 could be cylinder 4 misfire or MAF error.

Check ur maf sensor.

Could this not be the battery cable issue there was a recall for?
