Did your car have Nav from the factory? I had like 8 fuses under the little radio icon...I'd try 2, 23 and 31.

there is also a fuse on the back on the CIC.

dont know why your asking im guessing its not turning on, is it just the screen not on (music still playing) or nothing at all?

Yes, screen isn't on but music/CD/Radio is playing... Obviously the CIC controller isn't functioning but I'm putting that down to the screen not working. Checked the controller cable and that's all intact.

I don't have anybody who's got a CIC screen I can swap with to check - but that would be the best course of action to take.

i think the screen gets the power or atleast the signal to turn on from the cic itself. i had one where the screen wouldnt come on due to a doggy cic emulator.

what you can do is turn everything on then test your wires with a multi meter to comfirm power.

If HSD cable is faulty then OP should get orange display. That means its getting Can signals and power but no display signal.

However if its completely black (reading from first post), then OP should check
1- Power
2- Can signals

Also, easier way to check is to see if CIC controller is litting up with orange light when lights are on. If yes, then CIC controller is getting the power and problem might be CAN signals.

Two things to focus on (if no orange display)

Power
Can signals

Hey Sam,
Thanks for chiming in. My CIC controller does light up and get the orange backlighting. My CIC screen is fully black (i.e. no orange). I have take out the CIC and HU and had a look - I'm no wiz so don't know what to check other than if all plugs were in securely.

A little bit lost if I'm honest.. I have a multimeter a check power from the 4 red and brown wires (that form the part of the 4 wires at the back of the CIC screen) but wasn't getting power.

When I tested the multimeter pins on the cig lighter to just check if the instrument was working, I was getting very close to 12v meaning that it was working and either there really is not power in that cic cable or I'm doing something wrong.

I don't know

Are you saying that you are not getting the power at CID connector. There are 4 wires. Check red and brown.

Also, worth of taking the emulator out and connecting the CIC directly to the car side fakra. (GPS will be disabled)
If that turns out your CID, then emulator is faulty.

Otherwise, it is power source of CID.
Is your battery low on juice?
Have you checked all the fuses related to CIC / CID?

Well I THINK that that's where I'm not getting the power (i.e. CID connector) but seriously I don't know much about these things. What setting on the multimeter would u put to check (it's a digital one).

Battery can't be low on juice I bought a new one 2 years back and it fires up well.

Where does the CID cable goto at the other end (i.e. where is it's power source)?

Wish I lived closer to you man LOL.

You should put the multimeter in DC mode and there should be a mode which measure it upto 20V.

CID cable goes to junction box and then into fuse box.

Start with emulator first.
Then CID power cable.
And then all the fuses related to CIC/ CID.

This sequence is if your have CIC and CID already out.

Ha, Shaun, I did that with Jamie 1st time round son.

Anyways, no joy. I have NO fuses ending in odd numbers apart from a couple of 7.5

Rest are mainly 10, 15, 12, 30, 40, 60 etc.

I really need my CIC working guys, anyone fancy helping? Happy to travel to somewhere and I'm based in Aldershot / Wokingham (work area).

Also will buy someone lunch and drink or pay a fee etc. as I am beginning to get really frustrated with it not working.

I'll drive 3 hours if some can help fix this LOL. It must be a fuse but I'm not great with diagnosing these things unfortunately.

To be fair I had exactly the same symptoms and mine was fuse 60... the offer's still there, but you might be better off pulling out each fuse and checking if it's broken.

BUT if you do this, do it one by one and remember where each fuse goes, otherwise you'll be royally f*cked (speaking from experience)!
