CIC firmware version check

Is there a way to check what firmware is installed on a cic unit by the production date? I’m looking to buy a used cic online so using NCS is not an option unfortunately.

I read that 2012 is the cutoff for one with c1a firmware but is that the model year of the car or the production year?

You can't tell by 100% of the time prod date. I have one from a 2009 car that is C1A. And another from a 2012 that was not. I have purchased 5 used CIC and 4 of the 5 were on C1A.

Are you doing a retrofit? I am selling a mostly complete kit. C1A CIC w/ trim, screen w/ wires, cable, usb plug and cable, combox w/ plug, CIC wood console trim. I think that is everything except the controller.
