Coding performance brakes

Ok, I have upgraded my wife's 328i to 335i brakes and also coded the car to the performance brakes. I must say, the car brakes better than my 335i now. I know it can't be just that the car is 200lbs lighter. Could coding the 335i to performance brakes better the system?
Just a thought I was pondering that may be worth discussing.

That's a F series only application. There's no coding involved with E series brakes so I'm not sure you'll find much feedback here in the E series forum.

Could just be the state of the brake fluid and lines, or the rotors + pads.
I'm sure the 200 pounds makes a decent difference too, it's the equivalent of having a big guy in the car.

I came from an E46 328i that had fresh rotors and pads, and I feel like that even braked better than my 335i. Replacing runflats with better tyres helped, but still feel like it maybe could use fresh fluid and I'm not sure what kind of pads I've got.

Interesting you say that. I am upgrading the brakes of my E90 330i
with the BMW performance brakes and the dealer said coding is needed.

That's what I know too but David says coding is different on 135i that comes with 6 piston front and 2 piston rear. However, those "performance" brakes on the 135i perform worse than 335i brakes so homestly can't see how that partit coding will help when running 335i brakes and F-series Brembo like you and me.

What does the coding change? Only thing I can imagine is to adjust how it calculates bake heat, so it doesn't think you're overheating the brakes when they're fine.

Change in pressure perhaps since rotors/calipers are of different size than stock and are also drilled? ABS and traction control thresholds? Brake power distribution?

Oh no, need to run out and tell my wife's e90 it is not an e90! Yes, I coded the e90 to retrofit performance brakes.

Both have fresh fluid flush, fresh rotors and pads (same brands as well) brand new Ts810 Conti winters on both as well.

Identical parts now but the rotors and calipers were considerably smaller on the 328i when stock.

Not sure how many actually have ICOM and ISTA and if they do it is pretty easy.

Log into car, have you replaced a module (check no)
Check retrofit select which module (check that your Schumaker INC 700 is set to coding)
get back into car
accept job wait 15-20 min.

Tell wife you will be done soon and the task she wants you to do can wait, feel the wrath, wait more. etc... LOL

You can. You will need to add SPBR to the VO and then code the DSC and FRM modules if I remember correctly.

Presently I am waiting on a fresh set of front rotors and then I will be upgrading my 118I to performance brakes (using 135I calipers and rotors on the front and 328I rotors and calipers on the back). Once I get the rotors in and install I will take a few pics of the coding process.

Thanks. I guessing this all really just applies to all the base models that came with the smaller brake setups and had the Performance Brakes as a upgrade option. There was no factory upgrade option for the 335i so I would assume that there's no coding option available either unless maybe the M3 is coded differently and/or has something in the VO.

That is my thought. I am thinking that if I log into my 335I with ista I should NOT see the option for Performance Brake retrofit like I did with my wifes 328i.

I am using a thinkpad T410 with complete BMW coding suite that uses a BMW ICOM head. I pieced mine together. ICOM was from a seller on ebay, Thinkpad from Amazon (refurb) and the coding suite was from an Amazon seller.

I have the following problem in case you know the solution to it.

I purchased the kit and took it to the dealer for installation. My car is a
2006 E90 330i.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an option for the performance
sports brakes under ISTA in the retrofit selections.

Are they required to flash the car to the latest and then it will pop up?

How are they meant to address this?

Any help appreciated because right now we don't know how they are meant
to code the new brakes on the car with ISTA
