Interior beautiful smell?

Own an 2010 328i XDrive (E90) and it has the most wonderfully subtle smell. I don't know what it is or where it comes from but I definitely want to keep it and/or replicate it. It seems to magnify with the heater blowing air.

It's like someone spritzed a leather garment with a very subtly sweet smell of calmness and it soaked in beautifully.

Sweet is too strong a word - it's more like a sunset on leather smell, or fireplace without the smoke. Just nice and warm, but not too leathery at all. You can barely smell leather or sweet. Very subtle. Don't know how else to describe it.

If I had to guess, I'd say it belonged to the vanilla or gourmand family of scents.

Anyone else have this lovely scent in their BMWs? It's not a dispenser - it just came with the car. If so, how can I preserve it? I presume it has to do with

I've been carefully reviewing leather cleaning agents and conditioners. Want one which mimics the scent, or at least doesn't cover it up.

I know exactly the smell you're talking about.

It is harvested in the Scandinavian meadows but only between April and May.

Unfortunately it will go away.

The e9x has a distinct aroma. Really powerful when the weather is warm and the car has been closed up for a while (car lot / test drive). It's consistent across the line, and is not the same as other lines, like the X3 (which has its own distinct aroma).

I really like it.

Really can't tell if people are serious or if they are being wiseasses.

So to clarify - does anyone know what that pleasant smell is?

Forgive me if I don't interpret sarcasm well over the internet. Can't hear how you talk.

BMW HVAC areas are also frequented by pixie prostitutes (think Julia Robert's Tinkerbell) to service their clientele.
OP is smelling his garden gnome's sex.

BTW, OP, points for using "gourmand" in any sentence, though it sounds like you enjoy how gluttonous slobs smell...

Likely a combination of the leather, polymers, adhesives, and other solvents that went into making the car.

My car is a 2011 and I have been told my car still has the "new car smell", although I don't really notice it anymore myself.

yeah I've noticed the same.

When I got the car, the previous owner use some sent stick that smell like a old rich mafia boii with too much perfume.

I deep clean the car :
- oxy clean the car carpet with a water vacuum
- washing machine mat clean.
- leatherette Lexol deep clean and conditioner
- all panel deep clean (chemical guys)
- all panel got cherry chemical guy conditioner.
- new coal filter

on summer the smell was very neutral.

And now , the winter cold / warm and a bit of water on the carpet and it smell awful.

I've checked for any leaks, floor seems dry.

Something catch air moisture and when it dries it throw a awful smell.

yep I've stated to do that for about a month now.

On spring I will check the sunroof drains and remove the rear seats and carpet to see if I have water.

But for now it seems dry.

Its a beautiful mix of toxic glue/plastic from the car, and a rotten apple.

It's the upholstery. If you keep the interior clean and wipe down the seats and dashboard the smell will be more obvious on a warm day.

I love this stuff, such an amazing natural smell and low gloss look. Makes your car look and smell factory fresh.

Whatever windshield wash BMW fills the car up with when you do Euro Delivery should really be sold as cologne. That stuff smells fantastic - and expensive.

But I agree, my car always smells great when it comes out of winter storage - I spend winters in FL, the car lives in ME.

That smell is coming from your leather. As long as you keep the rest of the interior steam cleaned and disinfected it won't disturb the smell of the leather.

Don't forget that your leather is coated in vinyl protection. All you need is just a leather/vinyl cleaner for basically your whole interior..

I highly recommend Aero Cosmetics Leather/Vinyl cleaner. Be very sure to also buy a horsehair bristle brush to gently rub the cleaner into the surface. It made my Dakota Oyster seats look like brand new.
