Recent experiences with Indy shops near Boston?

Hey all,

I'm coming into a 335 that needs some new rear shocks and possibly front control arms/ bushings replaced. Have read a lot of threads about the local indy shops, but they have been from more than 4-5+ years ago. Any recent experiences? I've been quoted anywhere from $500-$700 in labor for these two jobs. I will be supplying my own parts.

I also know Dave is highly regarded around here, but has anyone heard from him/ know if he is still doing work out of his garage?

Thanks!

I've been to ton on indy shops, and I now won't go anywhere besides Jake Wile's shop.

Farley at eurotech or max at northeast autobahn have both treated me well.

What about southern MA / RI area anything good?

I'd drive the distance for better quality but I'm just curious.

Wile Motorsport is in Walpole just off of Rt. 1, very easy to get to from the Providence area. I highly recommend them, Jake is a true enthusiast that knows his stuff.

Eurotech is in Walpole MA as well.

I don't know anyone in RI.

It really depends on what work you want done.

I highly recommend Jonathan Smith @ Axion Motorsports in Holbrook, MA for anyone in the South Shore.

I live right down the street from him and he is the only one that I will bring my car to for any major repairs or maintenance that I can't do myself.

He is priced very fairly and genuinely cares about getting things done the right way.

I also bring my car to Axion Motorsports in Holbrook, MA.... Having worked at a BMW dealership he (Jonathan) knows his Bimmers. He’s extremely knowledgeable and his prices are very fair. He has replaced my turbos on my 335i as well as many other things . I won’t bring my car anywhere else.

Not sure if you're still looking but Bavarian Performance Group in Winchester is great to deal with.

I actually had them quote out replacing the rear shocks but ended up doing it myself. Not sure about your 335, but on my 328 the shocks sit outside of the springs so it was pretty straight forward.

Would rather pay a little more $ p/hour and know that the team working on my car isn't going to overlook one nut or bolt.

I'll trust a select few indy shops with certain repairs, but not having them do larger repairs and or aftermarket installations.

I have had dealerships forget multiple fasteners causing my vehicle to break down on the side of the road. They are the highest $/hour and are the 'experts' on the vehicles working on them exclusively. Just because you are paying more does not necessarily mean you are getting a higher quality install of car parts. Just something to consider.

Personally, I prefer to turn my own wrenches, that way there are no missing parts...or use well known shops with good recommendations if I am in a rush or turning wrenches is a PITA because of life.

Just had another amazing experience with bmw of sudbury...
I hope they didn't take out any screws or forget any parts this time, but it was just an oil change (that they intentionally overcharged for)

Maybe I'll give Eurotech a shot if I don't get around to the repairs in the next week or two.

First of all, the only reason I would take my car to the dealership is because of a warranty related item. The stealership may have good mechanics here and there, but for the most part half of them don't care or give a sh!t. So I totally agree with you. Turner is in a different league...more experience and expertise than probably any dealership in the U.S. Turner has solely worked on BMW's since day 1 and have a pretty awesome reputation with the aftermarket community.

I, like you, love to do my own work. However, after getting relocated for work and now living in the city with no garage...it really prevents me from being able to do any work. So now Turner Motorsports is the only facility that's will touch my car.

Strangely a lot of bad reviews on yelp: https://www.yelp.com/biz/turner-motorsport-amesbury

But facebook is positive...not sure how much they can control the narrative on FB though: https://www.facebook.com/TurnerMotorsportPreferred/

I've always heard good things about Turner.

You ever miss the single turbo VQ? What kit did you have? What fueling?
