Rear bumper M sport OEM VS M sport aftermarket.

Hey all, I thought this was always my imagination but I’m starting to think it’s not now.

I have an aftermarket M Sport e90 rear bumper.
I’ve noticed that oem rear bumpers have a higher hump, or downward curve where it meets the lower diffuser.
Is it my imagination or is it the way my white reflects the light or does the oem actually have more of an aggressive curve?
Here’s a picture showing the curves I’m talking about.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but the white car is an LCI while the black car is pre-LCI. The black car also looks like its parts were specifically chosen for an aggressive, sporty look.

Garage List
The M-sport (oem) rear bumpers are the same for pre-lci and Lci (I have cars with both) and only the diffuser is different.

I would assume it is just the lighting/colour that is highlighting that as I doubt the tow took or diffuser would fit right if it was a different shape but I have been wrong before.

Definitely just the way that white doesn't show the curves/shape as much.

Ok I have an LCI m sport oem on my e91.
On my e90 I have an aftermarket m sport and they are the slightest bit different.
They’re both white but the oem on the e91 looks curved a lot more and hence looks better. I doubt the e90/e91 lower curves would be different, I know the top is different where it mounts.
The tow hook cover is different between the 2(oem vs aftermarket)
I should’ve compared earlier.

Again it might be pre lci rep vs lci oem/rep but as far as I know, there is no aftermarket lci and pre lci rear, they’re all the same. unlike the front aftermarkets.

Wow, I had no idea the prices on these went up almost 25%. The cheapest I see them are $470 USD for a rear bumper kit.

1.5 years ago, I paid only $310 for the rear kit. F3X M-Sport conversion kits are even cheaper. There is literally no reason for E9X bumpers to go up in price other than gouging.

Yeah for some reason the F30 Mtechs are cheaper than the E90. Where did you find the Rear kit for $310 before? I checked with extremeparts they were selling it for $617cad three years ago, went down to $579cad now.

It was $360 USD from an eBay vendor, plus a coupon code. Either way, now they are over $100 more. That's BS...

Extreme Parts is probably the best bet now, but with tax and paint you're over $1k for a one bumper change. Crazy. I did both front and rear on my 328 two years ago for a little under $1500, parts and paint.

I bought mine a few months ago and I think it was about $540 new.
I know it’s aftermarket but for the price I was expecting the fitment to be off, not the design.
A shame the curves in the rear aren’t the same as oem.

There's no difference. These replica bumpers are 100% identical to the OEM bumpers in every measure.

I wonder how bad is the quality. Their Mtech front fit like OEM.
