Did I calculate my ED cost correctly (before dealer profit)?
Thanks

I don't have the invoice in front of me, but the Premium Package looks a little high that might be the MSRP. Everything else looks good and yes you have to add the $775 destination charge.

I just check and that's the going invoice rate for the PP. I think about a year
ago, the car was $600 less and options were slightly cheaper.

After reading all the these post on ed, i think i might pull the trigger on a e90. Looked for the answer to this question but couldn't get a solid answer.
1. How does the payment work out when buying ED, do you pay the dealer the whole amount of the car or 1/2 then when it gets re-delivered to the dealer the balance is due?

Thanks

If you order now, your pickup will be around Jan. Ever thought about doing this in the winter time? I'm pushing mine until late Mar. Weather should be better. I do want to pick it up in Jan, but what use is it to go to Europe and not be able to drive around in Europe. Hopefully in March, the weather will clear up enough I can drive around w/o having to worry about snow. I did see a picture of a building in Germany in Mar and it was covered in snow. Someone did ED last year in March and was lucky it wasn't the week before because, according to the locals, they had a few foot of snow fall the week previous..

You pay for it 100% (cash, finance or lease your choice) before going to Munich. The new standard is to pay at least 7-days before Munich delivery.

Right now for a 335i sedan my dealer in offering $500 over invoice, was thinking of going ED.
Question is are dealers willing to go $500 over on Euro invoice or will they mark it up higher? I looked around for what people are paying but didn't find anything solid.

Thanks

At $500 over invoice it is harder to justify an ED on $ alone. You may find a dealer willing to do ED at that price, but $1000 would be more likely. They do not get the same kudos for an ED sale as for an off-the-lot sale, and it is more of a pain to do the paperwork. ED really pays when cars are in hot demand and dealers won't cut prices on cars in their allotments, but they will for ED. Then there is closer to a 5-6k difference in price.

My ED date is Feb 27, 2008 and I would like to begin planning my itinerary but I'm worried that something might fall through because all that was filled out was the BMW pre-registration form for ED. My CA didn't require me to sign or put in a security deposit even when I asked to put in a deposit. Is this normal? How soon did all of those who did ED put in a security deposit and get all the paperwork done?

Thanks

Payment is no longer required until 7-days out.

However, you should check with your CA later this month or right after the new year as Feb allocations should be released at the end of this month. At that time, your CA should provide you a Prod # and then you can verify the specs are correct and track the production process.

I don't really see a dead of winter ED pick-up being unavailable.

BTW good name.

Thanks CALIF65GM. I'll check back with my CA later this month. It was just strange to me that he didn't require any formal paperwork done.

Do you know how the weather is like in Europe in late Feb?

Not sure but probably not great.

If you haven't checked out bimmerfest.com, I'd recommend that you join too. There's a whole Forum on ED and you'll learn a lot about the whole process and some one will definitely be able to answer your weather question.

Can someone explain to me why buying your vehicle with ED is so much cheaper? I don't understand why BMW would charge less...

Thanks

Is the $1,000 BMWCCA.org check for ED mentioned in the spreadsheet still valid? The URL is not and I don't see it anywhere else on the site. Thanks.

You have to be a member of BMWCCA for one year (minimum) before you buy the car to get a check from them for buying a new car. And not just any car. The $1000 applies to 5ers and above. It's $500 for 3er's.
BTW, you get the check regardless if you do ED or not...you just have to buy a new BMW. I think there are also some considerations if you buy a CPO, but I'm not sure how much $$.

Nice. Thanks, other Tom. Can you be an "associate" member and still get the discount? Looks like there's different membership levels.

Hello,

has anybody from Europe ever bought a BMW from an US dealer and picked it up in Munich (ED)? So that the car has never been the US?
It would be very interesting for me to hear something about that and at least, if it would be possible in general. Because the difference between the US and the German list price is unbelievable, nearly 50%!

Thanks for all your answers in this awesome thread and forum.

Best regards,
Dirk

I don't think that's possible because you have to be a US citizen to do Euro delivery. I also think you have to sign some papers when you pick up the car in Munich that you are going to export the car. Sorry, no deal.
