Instrument cluster constantly going on and off - all dash lights on
This is on a 2011 328i.
Driving along the highway and the speedo/rpm/fuel gauges go to zero and then back to normal. All the warning lights like ABS, Brake, DSC, etc all come on. Since then the vehicle has been running fine but is repeatedly doing the same thing. This happens whether the vehicle is in ACC mode, at idle, or under load/acceleration. Hooked it up to the scanner got the following codes U112B D359 - Message (KOMBI, 0x816) missing, receiver DSC, transmitter KOMBI D358 - Message (KOMBI, 0x784) missing, receiver DSC, transmitter KOMBI D35A - No message (CAS 0x304), receiver DSC, transmitter CAS. I found a lot of people online with similar issues. My battery is one year old but I had it tested and it tested out fine. I even swapped batteries with my other car but same issue. I have disconnected the combox module, TPMS/RDC module, and airbag module one at a time just to see if it would resolve the issue. I did this because I saw other people had shorts in these modules but none of it fixed the issue at hand. I would appreciate it if anyone had any further insight into the matter. |

Mine blew last year too. Had a lot of electrical issues etc. It was an half an hour job at my indy to confirm my suspicions.

Voltage Regulator??
I would verify your voltage regulator is working as intended. You can do this by accessing the secret menu on the gauge cluster and monitoring the voltage as the car is running. It should be between 13.5V-14.5V, any more or less and it is likely the regulator. New Bosch regulator is about $50US and takes about 20 minutes to swap out.
