That explains the numbers then.

Otherwise, you would be at about 170-180 to the wheels.

Edited numbers, I had torque and HP mixed, surprised it pushed 220 awhp?! But yeah that torque is like a little dick in a locker room, embarrassing.

I think I read dynojets can be skewed a little and inflate numbers?

Dammed dude, embarrassed in a locker room. Glad I never felt that way.

Seriously, for a naturally aspirated three liter the torque is really good. BMW built a motor with a really nice wide power band. Comes on early and stay on for a really long time. Not many motors do that. Too bad they installed then in overweight cars.

Install delayed, fucking hood release cable snapped or so I believe, I pull and nothing, no click, resistance. No partial open on either side of the hood. Coincidence after dyno day? They were the last to open the hood

That sucks. Hope you get it sorted out. I'm looking forward to the results!

Any plans for headers in the future, or does ESS still recommend using the factory exhaust manifold?

I think I had read that they couldn't get their kit to work with headers, but that Bob was able to pull it off.

I'm doing my header install next week, just got my tune from Bob. So I will have 3SI, Headers (keeping the Secondary cats), Magnaflow Catback, AFE Intake Scoops, and a stock airbox with Charcoal delete.

I also have 3:73's...and the car is fun to drive now (6MT). Can't wait to see how it does with the headers. After that I keep telling myself that I'm done....but looking at the ESS kit and just running 6psi since it's my daily is starting to look appealing.

No plans for headers. The SC kit is really just to curb my Boredom through the summer. S65 is the big project

I can relate. I doubt I would ever go the FI route with this car although if they ever made a "roots" style blower...I would really have to think about it because of the lack of TQ.

My biggest plan was to upgrade my C6 to a C7 GrandSport once the C8's came out and the C7 markets softened. Then I would just start modding it as it would be my fun weekend car anyway!

One of the guys here has one of those installed. I think he was from UK.

Really.....wow! I will have to see if I can find anything about that build. I didn't even know it was an option.

To me, that would be the optimal route to go if going FI because of the usable TQ. Lower boost and more heat soak issues, but would give a nice powerband as early as TQ comes on with those Positive Displacement blowers.

I had a 2004 Cobra terminator once, and the TQ those things made were crazy!

Just a comment that headers should help a fair amount. If there are gains NA then when you are pumping another 100hp worth of air through the engine the gains will be even more significant. There is no reason to keep a restrictive factory exhaust manifold on FI N52s. Whichever tuner said it wouldn't work is not a good tuner.

@Michaellcoates What are your plans for the S65? I assume a blower? The S65 still makes low tq but you can make up for that with the high rpm limit, gearing, and adding FI.

Yes I'll add a blower but that will be phase 2, the primary objective is just to get everything set and working correctly with some fresh rod bearings . Luckily there's 2 s65 e91 builds happening with a lot of resources and help for when I get to it. There's something to say for being a pioneer on conversions like this and being the first but I prefer the additional company, especially when help and expertise can be shared!

Ahh A S65 swap! I thought you were just going to buy an m3. An E91 m3 would be unique and fun. They should have offered that as an option.

What transmission are you going to go with do you think? DCT or manual?

FWIW an N54 swap would likely be less expensive and you would have significantly more tq for the heavier E91 chassis. But it is not an M motor.

Yeah I've thought about n54 but something about bmw's last NA V8 and keeping it as OEM M as possible keeps me on the path. S65 DCT, I also thought about manual since I've not seen it converted into the e91 yet but the DCT transmission is so nice!

Yeah I would be torn too. BMW last great NA engine but do you go with a classic manual which would be bad ass in a wagon or go with the newer automatic aka the DCT.

If the car if for driving fun I would say go with the manual.

If you want to track the car or want to go the fastest in a straight line the DCT would get my vote. Really depends on your planned application for the vehicle I would think.

Be fun to drop the SC N52 into something as you will no longer need it. Like an old BMW 2002 or something.

Thanks Lee, I see your wagon is stored up for the time being? Still considering s85 swap?

Dumb question probably. But if I'm replacing the o rings on the s65 injectors; do I replace them with s65 injector o rings or N52 o rings?
