Haha I finance my cars, well I bought my current E320cdi estate for £18000 cash, but then needed to do some work on the house so financed the car at 3% above base and £13k to release some funds. I also borrowed £100,000 to buy the remaining shares in my company 5 years ago over 15 years, and have got that down to around £18000 now, so hoping to have it paid off in no more than 2 years. Also have a mortgage for £212,000 which was fine 2 years ago when the property was worth £350k+, but bet it is worth no more than £250k at the moment, maybe even less. So I feel completely financed up, but hopefully in 2-3 years time that will all seem a distant memory and will have been worth the gamble. We shall see!! |

Gizze -LOL! Total opposite of us! Own everything outright and debt free but rent and save regularly (in chunks of dividends). So very allergic to paying interest that we aim to buy (probably this place) outright some day soonish - about halfway there in savings. However with house prices as they are we are considering some business investments as an alternative.
A very big "hmmmmmmm...??!!" |

I own both our cars outright though as they are a 2010 Octavia and a 2007 Prius maybe not too much to feel smug about.
Ever since I got an offset mortgage I'm obsessed about clearing the remaining balance (nearly there!) and it really puts me off splashing out on anything frivolous! |

This always makes me laugh, I own my car outright (OK it's nothing fancy) but am still paying off my reg plate (think I've got it the wrong way round!) .
Debt really doesn't trouble me but, that said, I'm happy not to attract too much more (unless it's car related) .

I've been in trouble with credit before so I'm always a little weary about taking out finance but I've had to on my new car. It's costing me a lot of money to begin with but I'm hoping to refinance in a year or two to bring the payments down.
I've had a lease car for the last 4 years and it's a nice feeling not having to worry about anything going wrong. The problem is the deals are often only had on 10k mile pa. and I do at least twice that. Leasing wasn't an option this time round
