Post -downpipe install-weird popping noise-HELP!

Hey guys we just finished installing AR downpipes on my buddies e92 335. When we got everything done and took it out for a test drive the steering is making funny popping/grinding noises when he turns it to the left and right. Any ideas? Also the breaks started grinding when we pulled over to listen to the sound. I am guessing it has something to do with the steering column that we moved slightly to get the downpipes in but then we put it back and bolted the two screws tight. We also only removed the pass. side one and just loosened the drivers one.

BTW mods sorry I accidentally posted this in another forum also-please delete that one

Did you make sure the heat shield thats over the passenger side steering rack is back into its original space and form and not touching the rubber protection...Some people take that shield entirely out, while others bend it out of the way for the installation of the DPs...I would think the noiose has nothing to do with loosen the steering rack since all you did was loosen the drivers side and taking out the passenger side bolt, but are you sure you tightened the bolts
