I'm xDrive and running a custom tune from Justin and was looking to get the xHP flash.

Is anyone running xHP with a custom MHD tune? Do I need a new map from justin in order to get it to work with xhp? or can I just install xhp and its all good

I believe you do.
When flashing OTS maps, you can specify what type of transmission you have.
You're supposed to choose manual if you have xHP flash on xDrive.
Afaik, it allows TCU to receive the actual load from DME.

Just flash manual when using xHP to remove torque limiters, you're good to go

No such option is given when flashing a custom map.

Nevermind, you're right. You should be good to go with a custom tune already

Anyone have any resolution to the surging issue? Popped the car in manual mode and it
Started surging up and down in idle. Guy who put on my fmic also said he had the same issue when he put it in reverse? What's causing this?

The surging is my biggest complaint about these cars. It drives me absolutely crazy sometimes. I'm on my second 2011 E92 N55 and it surges horribly just like the first one. It's a little better if you turn off the heat/air. If I have the ac on and turn the wheel hard when backing out of a parking space, the car starts bucking like a damn bronco. It can be embarrassing. If this could be corrected via an update to MHD, I would be estatic!

On the topic of surging idle, has anyone experienced any idle fluctuations when using the new idle RPM slide bar? With stock idle selected, my car idles rock solid, but sometimes produces unwanted NVH like its on the verge of dying when its cold outside (regardless if the car is warmed up). With this, I figured I would try increasing the idle to see if it helps, as its smooth as butter when I press in the clutch and the idle bumps to 800 RPM or so. Right now I have the idle set to 750 RPM and whenever I come to a stop/clutch in/neutral the RPMs will drop to 500 slowly, pick back up to 1k and then hunt for the 750 RPM mark for a bit before settling. Is there an adaptation period for the idle setting?

I have zero idea what you guys are talking about with the surging issue. Did you guys have this before you installed MHD? I've never experienced anything weird at all with or without it. Any driveability issues I ever had was from the short period of time I had a JB4 installed

I also get surging but mainly in reverse when I have the wheel locked backing out of a spot. Very irritating

I also just started noticing this. It only happens during light throttle on an incline - it's very weird behavior.

The surging problem was known on earlier DME versions, and BMW corrected it. My friend's early N55 had it, and a software update corrected it. MHD is based on a version later than that, so I'm not sure exactly what the issue is either.

I have a late E series and surging definitely occurs, DCT car here.

MHD and Spark Plugs

Hi all,
I know this has been talked about too many times but just want to get a final clarification. My car is FBO and I plan on flashing MHD Stage 2+ soon. The car has 37k miles currently. Should I replace the spark plugs and coil packs before I flash? I think the best option is to order them but not swap them in yet and see how long the current ones will last. Any knowledge on this would be greatly appreciated thanks!

In my opinion, just change the spark plugs to ngk 95770 and gap them to .022, coil packs can stay stock unless you're seeing a timing correction on a specific cylinder. And when you flash also get the monitor module. Well worth the money

Can anyone comment on this log?

https://datazap.me/u/jdiaz3800/2011-...a=4-16&mark=75

After posting logs with some timing corrections I went back to Stage 1 ACN from Stage 1 91OCT and got a clean log again. Currently running 3 gallons of e85 on a full tank.
A couple days after logging with the 91oct map and getting timing corrections I found that My charge pipe cracked at the throttle body. I then switched it out for a vrsf one. Will a small boost leak cause the timing corrections i was getting while being on the next map? up?

That log doesn't look too bad, did you put the o ring in the new chargepipe?

This log looks very good.

I wouldn't think a boost leak would pull timing. I don't see how the two can be linked. Over boosting on the other hand...

Yes I put a new o-ring that I bought from them. Only thing that worried me at first is that the CP wiggles at the throttle body but i read that it was normal.

As far as boost go it seems like I'm not hitting target. But idk I'm still trying to learn for to read logs lol. Is there a reason why I wouldn't hit target?

Double check the t bolt clamp for the pipe coming up to the chargepipe from the intercooler. Make sure it's tight but if you put it on too tight it will oval out the incoming pipe and cause a boost leak.
