Just checked my 320d SE (UK spec / registered September 05) and it has a flat black strut bar from tower to tower.

You shure it goes straight from tower to tower , and not just the normal little ones that go from tower to firewall ??

There are or soon will be strut braces available from aftermarket suppliers. However, they aren't typically needed on 3-Series BMWs used only on the street.

Since the E46 aftermarket strut braces void the warranty in most markets ( except AC Schnitzer ones )

These have full warranty approval from BMW

Are you sure that an aftermarket strut brace would void the warranty? If so, on what basis? I can understand that an owner might be charged for removing/replacing an aftermarket strut brace if the r & r were required to perform warranty work. Several highly respected tuners including Dinan and BMP (to name a couple) offer strut braces though perhaps not yet for the E90 cars.

There were a number of cases where strut braces caused strut tower damage

Shure none were from the top quality brands, but all but AC Schnitzer were outlawed by BMW here. They sent a official notice to all delaers not to carry out any warranty work on cars with non-approved stut braces

Thanks. I have heard nothing about that in the U S. BMW NA warranties are different in the details from some other operating units within BMW AG. Out of curiosity, what is the warranty length (miles or Kilometers) and (months) in SA?
