It's seldom you will find your highest boost readings as your actual boost.

Boost is read pre-throttle body and thusly if there is a boost overshoot, the throttle blade is partially closed, as a result the boost reading is inflated.

The proper way to measure boost would be through an external gauge that is reading pressure in the intake manifold and/or reading a proper datalog that has 100% TPS.

10/10 when someone is suggesting their car is over-boosting it turns out that it is not over-boosting but they are receiving an inflated boost reading because their throttle blade is closing.

Cobb and flash tunes target load. So run whatever boost (up to limitations in the tune) designed to hit that load target. That is why cars will vary all over the country to some degree. Things like wastegate sensitivity also come into play as well as many other external factors.

Thanks for sharing! Always receive great feedback!

Jeff thank you for that wealth of information! Extremely helpful as I begin modifications.

Also Jeff I want to personally say thank you for the customer service I received from Top Gear Solutions Not only was the price unbelievable but so was the shipping time and follow up emails. Purchased my KW V3s and ETS Charge Pipe from Top Gear Solutions and looking forward to expand that list!

This thread has been made like 2000000 times on this forum, why do people not learn how their car works before they mod it?

Here's an example of a boost spike in case anyone was wondering.

http://www.datazap.me/u/tke344/e50-r...1-7-21&mark=25

Around 3300-3600RPM I had a major throttle closure which made the boost reading higher than it should be. Later in the log after the closure you see the boost settles around 14PSI. There was another two throttle closures later in the log. Still working on getting WGDC values dialed in.

CPS not worth the extra money in NY IMO. I'm not a fan of replicas but its not worth it and with a little sanding the fitment was great!
