The new batteries and Hitag came in. The hitag will not even connect to the software and the batteries do not fit in the keys.

Getting your money back from aliexpress is possible but is very difficult. Looks like a need to start claims for the batteries, R270 and the Hitag.

My PCF7945 chips cleared customs and will be here tomorrow but now I can't even test if the keys work or not.

The Hitag is a Chinesse clone, if you look, you will probably find a text file that says to adjust the system date to between Dec 1 2010, and Jan 4th 2011, before running the software.

I'm still not sure what you are trying to accomplish with the transponder chips. I understand if you replace the transponder chip in a used fob, with a factory new transponder chip, then the fob will be programmable, but only by a software tool such as your MulitTool. You can't transfer data (clone) data from one transponder chip to another, and have it work. First, you need the crypto keys for the used transponder chip before you can read anything other than the ID. You can get the crypto keys for the used fobs from a dump of the CAS, and that will allow you to read the data stored in a used transponder chip, but you still have an issue with the ID. The ID of valid fobs for the car, are stored in the CAS. So, when you use a tool such as MultiTool to program a key, it not only programs the transponder chip, it changes data in the firmware of the CAS - it needs to update the area in the CAS that has the ID's of the allowed fobs. It is impossible to change the ID of a transponder chip. FYI, this is where the misconception that some people have about BMW putting aside 10 fobs for every car they make, the CAS comes programmed from the factory with the 10 transponder ID's, and BMW has record of what they are. So when you order a FOB from BMW, they create a FOB with that transponder ID.

Also, I've never seen that error that you have with your Rosfar, my guess is that you have a bad solder connection.

My chips came in today and they will not program with the multi tool. I tried two different fobs with new chips soldered onto them.

I will try the date hack for the hitag

Update: The time change worked. I ran the blank fob through and only the SN comes up.

Did you have Mode set to Crypto, Protocol set to Manchester, and crypto keys set to default (Low=4D494B52, High=4F4E).

If the transponder chip has not been programmed before, you should be able to read the chip values with the above settings.

Update: All of the used keys have a battery voltage of 0.6V. They are all charging new and I will try again when I get home in a few hours.

The batteries did not charge and the fobs will not program. I highly doubt that it is my soldering job as the water damaged fob is now working.

I have soldered a few AA batteries to the fob and they are now charging. I have yet to find a good replacement battery for the non CA fobs.

Is the issue the quality or placement of the terminals? I haven't attempted a replacement myself, but I did some reading on it once... I'm sure you've read everything I have and more, but thought I'd ask anyway.

There is no f*cking way I would pay $20 for one of these, but is this essentially what you've been using so far?

I had luck with a Clarisonic charger (gf's), but I'm basing my belief that it charged the fob on the fact that it was somewhat warm when I did take it off... Worked fine prior to charging as well though, so who knows.

Very cool work too btw. Love it.

I bought the batteries from Aliexpress for $4 a battery. They had the posts 180 degrees from each other instead of 45 degrees. These are the same except the posts look like they are in the correct spot:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-P...53.m1438.l2649

I am not sure what is wrong with the blank chips but I do not really care anymore since I am just going to use the used boards as water damage repair donors.

My CA key chips finally came in and once again they could not be programmed. It looks like there is no financially viable way to refurbish used key fobs for use with other cars. My aftermarket CA key comes in tomorrow and hopefully that will be able to be programmed.

Not sure if this will help but I had a problem with one of my non CA FOBs too.

The remote didn't work (wouldn't unlock the door) but it would start the car. I opened it up (very carefully) and checked the battery. It had 3V on it so was good. I eventually found a guy that repairs BMW FOBs. He fixed it. Cost depends on whether or not you've already opened the key; ranges from $50 to 75. His website explains why. Not cheap but fair compared to a new FOB.
