Koni shock or Bilstine shock w/ H&R springs?

I personally was thinking to get Bilstine shocks but many people have gone with Knoi shocks.

Which one is better an why?

Thanks

Great topic, Ive always wondered this myself. I went with Koni, but still wonder if I should have gone with Bilstein.

Just called Turner Motorsports and they told me that Bilstein sport shocks are not out yet. Might take another few months.

That takes care of that one! Guess its Koni then.

How much for Koni Sport shocks?

Fraggy - Hows the ride w/ the Koni/H&R's combo. Im between this or just trying the H&R with my OEM Sport shocks.
I want a sportier ride and handling but with some comfort.

Last option is PSS9's but it might be overkill since im not tracking the car and dont think I have the patience to adjust them. They are sweet though.

Bilstein Heavy Duty are out for E90, but I was told that Sports would not be. I was also told that the only difference between Sport and HD is the length of the body, about 1/2" longer. This doesnt mean I was told correctly either.

About the Koni's, I like them, I have them set at 1 turn from soft and they are stiff! On some days and roads I like them, and on others I wish I had them set softer. Having to pay someone to remove the rears to adjust them is crazy.

Other than that, the car is amazing now, it handles great and makes me drive faster overall.

I would advise you to spend the extra money on the PSS9s--I doubt you'll be dissatisfied. It's better to spend the extra money and devote a little time tinkering with the PSS9s to get the exact feel you want than it is to buy a setup that you may not be able to adjust to your liking, IMO. I've had Koni yellows on 2 different cars and in both cases they were too stiff for me, even at full soft (and I don't like a super-soft ride). I've had Bilstein sports on one car and PSS9s on another and loved both setups. In fact, I had Koni yellows and Eibach springs on my E46 M3 and found the ride to be too harsh--I replaced the suspension with PSS9s and the difference was night-and-day in terms of ride quality. So, if comfort is a priority, you might want to wait for the Bilstein sport shocks to come out or go with the PSS9s. If you want a comfortable Koni, it seems like the FSDs are the way to go. Both companies make great products, but in my limited experience, Bilsteins have been tuned for a more comfortable ride on the street.

Great info guys, thank you.

What is the best price for PSS9. I found them here for $1,426.00 with Free shipping
http://www.eshocks.com/bil_vehP.asp?...tein&SubChar=Q

Anyone find a cheeper price?

H&R+Koni - Aprox. $825.00 Thats a minimum of $650.00 more for PSS9!

Also, H&R Sport springs are back ordered until Mid June do to demand!

That's where I got my PSS9s--couldn't find a price anywhere near it. They arrived quickly, too.

im running H&R Race springs with the koni sport shocks..... and i LOVE it.

handling is night and day from stock.....

the rears are a pain in the butt to adjust, but not the end of the world.... you can do it yourself and it takes no longer than an hour to do both sides....

is it worth the money???? yes.... if you're never gonna adjust your coilovers, then there's no use in getting coilovers IMO...

PM Ron************, he can hook you up with a really good price....

Great choice--you won't be disappointed. I have the Eagle F1s, too-- they've been sitting in my basement for over a month waiting for my MORR VS7s, and will probably be sitting for at least one more month before the wheels arrive . I'm hoping to get my PSS9s installed within the next couple of weeks.

well... Koni rides better. Bilstein are built better and handle better. they are both good. but bilstein are OEM on most porsches. so that should tell you something. the Carrera GT shocks are made by Bilstein and its Springs are made by H&R.

All of my Konis have provided a brick-like ride, which is why I'll likely never get them again. Both of my Bilstein applications have had an extremely compliant ride.

interesting. if you can spend the money, get the Dinan JRZ shocks, those are way better than either.

I forgot about the shocks mod...can't believe it. I spent money on lights and other cosmetics stuff. Good god, I got all my priorities messed up. My first E36 mod was Bilsteins. Thanks for reminding me how nice the ride was with new shocks. I believe Koni makes OEM, but Bilsteins are magical.

Any more input on Koni vs Bilstein shocks anyone? I am in the market for shocks to pair with my Eibach Prokit (E46 330xi) and H&R Sport (E91 328xiT).

Read my review on suspension below. In my opinion Bilstein Sport > Koni Yellows. Konis are stiff, but they make your car ride like a truck. Its been beat to death on every forum. Bilstein = Monotube Gas shock, and Konis = Twintube. There are always those who says Konis are better than there are those who says Bilsteins are better. I didn't know who to believe so I've tried both. I like Bilsteins. Have you ridden in a big truck? No bounce hard rail feel? Konis feel like that. Bilsteins give a good soft bounce over small bumps and fast rebound over big dips. I like the Bilsteins a lot more. As for track performance, I can't say.
