Nice. Welcome back I loved reading your previous thread it almost made me want to get back into racing again.

The internals of the current aftermarket twin offerings for the n54 aren't robust enough from a motorsports perspective. That's not to say that they aren't great for highway pulls or airstrip events; but the constant abuse in a motorsports capacity is very different, and unfortunately has exposed the weaknesses in the aftermarket twin offerings that still need to be ironed out. This could change if one or more of the turbo vendors decide to pursue more of a motorsports avenue (and I would be open to helping with that development). In fact, if one vendor were to pursue this avenue... dialing in a proven reliable twin setup used in the motorsports capacity would speak volumes in terms of quality for the product for non-motorsports use (hence why Formula 1, LMP, etc is the R&D test bed for many ideas that find their way into factory production vehicles). That said, at this point I haven't had any dialogue to that effect at this time with any vendors. As it sits right this moment... I plan to go single turbo. Long enough answer to a quick question? And thank you! So glad to be back in the community |

Dude, SO good to be back. While I loved running those MMP's on my DD (it was a beast!!!), this car is going to be run hard. And by that, I mean back to back to back to back pulls. I commented earlier in this thread, that all of the current twin offerings; while fantastic for highway pulls/airstrip events/record setting dyno runs... unfortunately are not robust enough internally to endure the abuse that comes from motorsports use. That said, if a vendor would like to reach out and work with me on this project to develop a solid/reliable twin setup that can endure motorsports abuse... until I go single turbo, I'm open to that discussion And great to hear from you again man. Been long overdue. |

So we (eFab Motorsports ) pulled all of the tar. Any guesses as to how much the tar alone in an e90 weighs? Or how about weight of the firewall mat?
Also quick tip... when removing the tar, heat it up with a torch. Comes off 320938094230498 times easier. |

I am sure they would be the best to tune their turbo based on the racing you are going to be doing. I think most 'tuners' just go for max HP vs. tuning it to compete on an actual course.

So instead, Eric at eFab is weighing bins of stuff that he's removing as he goes. It's really impressive to see how much weight can be shed as you trade off comfort in the name of function. I'll share an update very soon with photos of the different components we've removed on the scales for documentation purposes (don't think anyone has done that before for the e90). Should hopefully prove valuable as others plan to take on this same endeavor in the future with their e9x's. |
