What is the black airpipe called that goes in front of the motor?

And how do you remove it?

I cannot see the connection on the right side. I want to take it off so I can get better access to all of the pulleys.

It is the intake for the front turbo. There are 2 torx bolts holding it to the front of the motor, should pop off with those removed.

I tried that but something is still keeping it from coming off.

You can’t take it off, you could loosen it so it can wiggle a bit but can’t take it off, at least not with reasonable amount of work. You should be able to access all pulleys just fine with it in place.

Yes it is not the easiest piece to remove and reinstall. It is removable after the 2 bolts and the clip but not simple. It is not secured to the front turbo it just slides on and off. It is not worth the effort.
Removing the radiator fan is much easier and should give you more room to work on the pulley.

I already have the fan out I. I will be replacing all of the pulleys so it would help if that airpipe was out of the way.

You absolutely CAN take it off, just as me and others have mentioned. It is a pain in the ass since there is a bunch of stuff in front of the engine but it comes off.

But as noted, with the mounting screws removed and the radiator fan out of the way, there is plenty of room to pull it towards the front of the car and get all the work done.
