Piloti Driving shoes anyone?
Just bought a pair of DTMs from our Karting center and I gotta say they are pretty nice. I have some Puma Future cats as well that I was hoping would make good driving shoes but they proved to be too narrow.
These Piloti's are very nice and wide enough to make OEM Heel-Toe Easier. FWIW. Anyone else find that driving in proper shoes helps a lot out in the twisties? Better peddle feel etc? Extra Bonus, if the damn car bursts into flames at least my feet will be safe!!! Piloti Driving Shoes

the piloti are nice since you can walk in them after you raced your car. unlike "real" racing shoes where the soles are really thing, piloti has a thicker sole which allows you to walk in them. so no need to change shoes after you race. they are quite comfortable. plus when you are racing...no one will notice your shoes. only when you walk around afterwards then they might notice what shoes you are wearing

I also have the DTMs. They were great with the 6MT M3 but are a bit overkill with the step. Even so the rounded heel and flat sole provide more feel and a more stable pedal.

HEY
There's sort of a style there, besides anyone who thinks "Sneakers" of any sort are "stylish" needs to grow up yeah? I have the Stylish Pumas and I like them a lot, but they are worth shit for driving with OEM Peddles in the E92... Cannot safely heel-toe they are too narrow. So I get these downstairs at cost :rocks: and they actually seem to work pretty well. Though I will admit they aren't the Prettiest shoes out there, I don't think there is any silliness involved, they look like shoes. I was just wondering if anyone else had tried them and liked them.

I wear pilotis sometimes at the track, but have noticed I do not like the contour of the bottom of the shoe. personally, i drive best with a pair of running shoes.

I have a pair of Simpson low racing shoes and IMO they are worlds better than the Pilotis. Of course, you cannot be seen wearing those in public.
So I only wear them at the track... |

I own a pair of Piloti G16's and wear them daily. For driving, they make heel and toe shifts a lot easier than normal street shoes. Do not get them wet before you get in the car, your feet will slip off the pedals.
Comfort - They are as comfortable as any pair of normal street shoes. I wore them at the Grand Prix of Houston, where I walked 6-7 miles daily. At the end of the day, my feet were sore, but not blistered or anything. I did not fare any better in the New Balance cross trainers the following day. The outer sole has held up pretty well considering how much i drag my heels when I walk. The mesh upper ventilates well, keeps my feet dry as long as it's not raining. There's better looking street shoes and more protective driving shoes, but these G16's are a great compromise. |

Piloti is located about 30 miles from me.
I've met with the owners before and showed them some video footage I shot to make some marketing dvds for them. I own about 10 pairs of their shoes. DTMs, G16, Mullholland IIs, Monaco's, etc....... I wear them to drive. KART Track days. Canyon runs. I actually wear them while working 15 hour days in the movie/tv industry, on my feet all day, as my daily shoes. They are a great product and some feel better on the pedals than others. The G16s and new Mulholland IIs are pretty thick, preventing great feel. I also have Puma Future Cats and Kart Cat IIs and I'd take the Piloti's all day long........ kj |

Yeah, I like the Puma's for Looks, but for driving... I need to get some quality after market pedals and then they will be worth while.
So I see that Piloti's are hardly a new discovery though. I am pretty pleased with em'. Not the Sexiest for sure, but comfy and provide decent feel.

DC shoes has some nice ones.
http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/i...Path/5524_5549 They look nice and are probably somewhat good. Might pick up a pair and only use it for autocross.

I was just gonna mention DC's driving shoes. They one of the very few driving shoes that look like normal shoes. With most driving shoes I might as well bust out the wrestling shoes and a pair of Zubaz. Piloti shoes are really nice, I still have a pair that I bought a couple years ago, and still are awesome. I only use em for track use though, cause they do look like driving shoes.

of all the piloti shoes - look at the PROTOTIPO - They look way cool I actually wear these out during a relaxing week-night and get compliments on them. And this is at nice places too, not McDonalds.

I drive barefoot (when I wear Birkenstocks) most days or I wear pumas. You'll have to report on walking comfort with the Pilotis because I know that pumas utterly suck for walking around in all day (not sitting at a desk), the sole is about a quarter inch thick with no padding lol.
