Battery cable question

Does anyone know what this -red- cable shown with the green arrow is?

i think it was connected to one of the positive terminals. i unplugged it and the computer didn't throw any errors.

i couldn't find any info about it. it comes out from under the insulation material.

Pretty sure that's not an OEM wire - something someone added at some point for some accessory

thanks that is exactly what i was thinking. it didn't look like an oem cable to me neither. i wonder what that cable is(was) powering, no additional accessories in the car that i am aware of.

That's a non-factory crimped connection. Definitely didn't come from the factory like that.

I had the battery connector recall done at the dealer. Do they run an additional wire with a crimp connector during recall? I am trying to decide if I should leave it connected or not.

No they do not do that clubs07. they cut about 2 feet of the original battery cable that goes into the glovebox fusebox and add a new piece that goes into the glovebox fusebox (which they also replace) during the recall
