I'm so jealous of the heated wheel.
Looks great, but got to we weird to drive with two though!!!

Today I did my full CIC + combox retrofit:

Too bad the junkyard didn't know how to ship something and they broke the face plate. Does anyone have a cic faceplate or a glovebox usb port they could sell me?

Go on eBay and search

CIC HU "Audio Equipment Radio Am-fm-cd Receiver bmw"

Display "Info-GPS-TV-Screen-Display-Screen bmw"

Click on the ads until you see a lci navi car. Do not pay more than $100.

Used a clay mitt for the first time. Never used any kind of clay products before.
I had some rough areas on the lower part of the fender, and I was able to take out 90% or more out. Not bad!

Then used Jescar Powerlock. That thing makes your car like it's made out of glass. So smooth

Tomorrow will tackle the interior.

since my car is not a DD, yesterday I took her to work and spray washed her at lunch (she doesn't get run through the automatic wash like the others!).

I then realized wow, how much dirt there was on the mats, etc. So first thing this AM I vacuumed her. It's the little things...

I need to drive this car more, I looked and she's gone 800 miles in 9 mos., not good!

Took apart my mirrors to clean and grease the motor connections, they no longer randomly reposition themselves now.

Got my airbag and blower motor harness done. The dealer also informed me the previous owner purchased a 100,000 mile mataintence package that transferred over to me when I bought the car. So that was a nice surprise.

That's awesome!

Anybody have a DIY for the steering joint on the e90? GF was saying the 325 was hard to turn... thought she meant the normal steering feel until I drove it and realized the joint is binding up. Looks like it is buried pretty deep in there.

Also looks like the correct part is the whole "lower joint/shaft" from ECS for $318.

I don't know of any DIY guide, but that seems to be the correct part. Looking at my car, your going to have to remove the intake/charge pipe to get enough room. From there you'll loosen the bolts at both ends that clamp on to the splines of the upper shaft and steering gearbox. If it's like my old e36 one spline will be slightly wider, essentially acting like an orientation guide, but I'd still mark the shaft just in case. Then just drop the rack 3-4 inches and the lower shaft should slide out. Reverse for install of the new part.

You might try greasing the shaft first to see if that alleviates the problem.

Carbon fiber interior wrap installed. Thanks to my awesome wife for all the help. She’s much more talented than I am. No way it would have come out as nice if I did it. Love the new look and it covered up some cosmetic flaws. Just need to clean up the mess from the install now.....

Good job. Nicely done. I need to re-wrap mine. My first time doesn't look as good as yours.

I am gathering information and parts for a heated steering wheel retrofit. I need a heated steering wheel, heated clocksping, a 10 pin connector and some wiring. I really want heated seats but I can't justify even 300$ for a pair of seats I am going to rip apart. I never had heated anything in any of my cars so a heated steering wheel is a huge win by itself.

Heated seats are expensive and the steering wheel is dirt cheap

$22 later I have a heated steering wheel clock spring, connector and trim. I located a sport, heated, paddle shift steering wheel for $35. Hopefully it is still there when I call tomorrow.

Is it possible to take the old casing (leather/vinyl) off, install the heating element and re-wrap the steering wheel ?

I am sure you could if you really wanted to. You would also need to make room for the heating module built into the wheel.

I just installed the new clock spring and it was a chore. It needed to be calibrated and programmed into the car which took almost three hours for me to figure out. When I first started the car up my dash was a Christmas tree. God forbid something is plug and play with this car.
