Garage floor painting

Anyone know if your garage floor is already painted with that floor paint that you buy in a kit from home depot and such if you can repaint over it with the same stuff?

3 years and now working heavily on cars in it has really beat up the paint, which I should have put on thicker originally but didnt.

My experience with paining garage floors which you work on, it usually turns out bad. if you paint over it, it will just lift again. Recently Sherman Williams came out with concrete stain, and it actually stain it not paint and it holds up much better since it not a layer over the concrete so it can not chip off. This stain can be used over existing paint as well. But unless the concrete was properly cleaned and prep before it was originally painted the paint will continue to peel and chip.

This the reason I never like painting a concrete floor you plan to drive on or work on with floor jack and such it just does not hold up and it looks really bad over time. If all you plan to do is drive in and out and your weather is fairly constant (no really cold days or road salt from winter snow) then painting usually holds up okay.

it actually isn't chipping or coming off on its own, it is just beat up from me dropping stuff on it and what not.
