Along with a request for advice, this is also an introduction.

I'm a long time Seattle resident who recently moved to Redmond. Grew up with Fords, then moved to Toyota (Supras). Now I have a e36 (96 ti) with 320K on the clock (runs perfect!) and a Peugeot 505 turbo (!) I've had since 1999. Picked up a e90 (98 328i) last Saturday at a used car lot in Auburn. I buy cars this way for some reason. Picked a 3 series 'cause PSA (Citroen) hasn't/won't come back and BMW is the leader. Why they're more affordable than Lexuses is beyond me. $10,200 with 115K on the clock. Runs great, no major issues (I hope!).

This car is really nice!

Small issues: Only have one key. It's dead. Remote doesn't work. I have to use the mechanical key. Need two functional fobs - hear a dealer visit is the only way to get this. Recommendations?

Also, cranks too slow. I suspect battery needs replacing. Still have heated seats and other electrical services so a phased shutdown/preservation/one-last-start protocol has not been initiated. But, I think I'll need a good shop to properly register and possibly code a battery. Recommendation there would so be nice.

Thanks in advance and hope I can learn and contribute a little.
Welcome and congratulations on your E90.

1. Key FOB. You must order a new one from the dealer. There is no around it. Many tried Ebay, programming a second hand FOB and there is no easy solution. If your current FOB works properly, you should be able to get it sync with car yourself after receiving it from the dealer. If you have Comfort Access, then you might need the dealer perform the programming.

2. Battery. If its the original battery you should replace ASAP. Your FOB not working might be related as bad battery might cause remote not working properly. I have the Carly App and it says it will register a new battery for $10. I haven't tried it myself but I am planning one myself. You're welcome to try mine. Also, since you're replacing the battery call the dealer to see if your car had the battery cable recall done. It will be wised to do that too. I take my car to Bellevue BMW and usually they will also diagnose and do complimentary check for you.
