Verizon data is not unlimited anymore, and My truck is parked close enough to the house at night to update nightly via the house's Wifi!

The nexus is rooted and i am running a custom android kernel that implements USB dac functionality so the the nexus b is both charging and sending digital audio through its USB port. The kernel is called Timur's kernel and costs a few bucks but its well worth the money as it adds a lot of functionality to the nexus essentially making the software car ready.

Dude, I have just bought my first e91. I love it and this is probably the first thing I'll be installing! I just can't seem to be able to find this proclip mount in the UK. Absolutely love the install awesome work!
EDIT: any chance you could post a link to the exact mount you have used? Last edited by bigDaves12; 07-11-2015 at 06:50 PM.. |

Wow, Thanks i really appreciate it. Proclip isnt necessarily the only way to do it just need to find 2 flat plastic clips that can lock together and be attached to kuda and the nexus. But after searching around proclip would be the most secure since it could be screwed onto the nexus just make sure to drill tiny pilot holes since the kuda is fiberglass it can crack. Pics would be cool when you get to it .

Here you go straight from my amaozon purchase history lol. Also thanks, I really like it since its the cleanest looking way to get a decent version of android running in the car while not screwing with the canbus also very upgradable and easily removable. |

I'm going to try and use my S5 for now but not sure if the stock kernel will allow for usb DAC and charger at the same time... guess I'll see. I rooted all my phones back in the day until I got the S5. Any idea if XDA has any tricks for S5 using USB dac and power?

I appreciate that! Too bad the DAC on samsung phones suck... What do you think of that amazon dac? I know it's nothing fancy, but did it improve the sound? I ordered the exact one you have.

I dont know how much of a difference the DAC made on the nexus since I never tried it without it because i bought it solely for the car. However i can say with the logic 7 sound in my car audio sounds phenomenal, extremley clear uppers and mid range and stong bass without being overpowering. Overall its sound is exelent especially when I put spotify sound quality on its max setting I get a lot of compliments on not only the nexus but also the stereo.

Thanks so much for this write up!
I am in Canada so its gonna cost me $130 just for the kuda mount :/ (same price as a used nexus 7 2013) So you have the 6ft usb extension plugged into the nexus, then what is plugged into what after that? and do you know any other places that sell the dash mount? Thanks!

The way I have it wired up is the nexus is on the dash andfrom there I have a 6 foot angled micro usb connector running from the nexus behind the wood trim, down into the glovebox and tucked underneath the center divider running along to the center console. From there you need to lift up the wood trim by the gearshift and remove the small plastic on the bottom of the center console. Its tight but you can fish that micro usb in and up with a metal rod and grab it to pull it through into the center console. Put everything back together and you should have the micro usb leading from the dash to the center console. From there you plug that usb end into something called a usb OTG +power. Its basically a usb host cable with a female usb port and female micro usb port . The female usb gets plugged into the usb dac male and the female micro usb gets plugged into a micro usb male to usn male that goes into the cigarette lighter adapter. Then you plug an auxiliary cable from the dac to cars aux in. And everything should be good.
