i hate to be persistent, but does anyone have a link to the Timur ROM (nexus 7 2012)? The one I found may be corrupt as it doesn't put the tablet to sleep when you take the power supply away.

I would message Timur himself and ask for it

Thanks for this setup!! Amazing.

When I connect my Tablet directly to the otg cable my USB dac works (the green light turns on), but when I connect it to the extension cord my dac Dow's not work.... Any suggestions? The extension cable works because it's always charging.

Try using the USB extension to plug into a computer and see if you can get any data to transfer my only thoughts is tgat the cable has only power and not data or something wrong with the 2 data wires inside

Thanks, I'll give that a shot, that's my fear that I have a bum cable (I bought the exact same one you have).

Just want to update the thread, I was having sound issues and I thought it was the DAC becsue I had it from the headphone out to the cars aux in. Thinking the headphone amp was at fault i changed to the rca outputs on the DAC and the problem got worse. A LOT worse. So i uograded my DAC to the Fii0 e07, the sound quality has drastically improved to the point where the system doesn't even sound the same anymore. Its been in my car for 3 days now and i have had 2 people compliment it and ask what kind of speakers I have. Sound has litrally improved in every dimension and to be honest I am kind of mad that I hadnt done this earlier. Im not being paid to say this but yeah if you are doing this mod, really spend the extra money for the better dac its worth every penny. On the other hand, my backup camera is now fully functional and automatically activating and closing. I just want to tidy up the wiring and I will have a full writeup very soon. I also have been doing other work so I am considering a seperate build thread.

Wanted to throw mine in here as well. A guy on the forums made my mount for my tablet. Nexus 7 flo with the ElementalX Kernel and CM13. Don't mind the aux cable, it's be rerouted under the panels. Using both the USB and the aux port in the center console for power and music, and a OTG + Male USB cable directly connected into the OBD port for MHD Monitoring.

Well, I just bought a Nexus 7 online... Hope this goes well! Gonna make my own interface graphic though, to be different from everyone else.

Great DIY and setup, I just ordered everything I need to do this and I'm hoping to install later in the week. My only question is about running the USB cable from the dash to the center console, is there a DIY specifically for that? Or maybe a DIY for some other thing that also includes running a cable to the console. I'm pretty confident once I actually get into pulling the trim off the dash and center I'll be able to see the route, but pics would be good so I'm prepared going in.

No, but it's not hard pull forward the dash trim that has the vents on it a few inches, you can then fish the wire into the glovebox, from there you can get It behind the trim next to the passangers leg, after there you just lift up the wood trim next to the gear shift and if you push the wire up you'll see it in there. From that point you can get it into the center console easily just move away the rubber peice on the bottom of the the console. If you need more help lmk.

I used a program called "AmazingText Free". Bascially create widgets that are blank, and put them in the correct spot. Some are tricky, since I have Nova Launcher and my widget grid is way smaller than stock, it can be hard to find them at first, so label them first, then put them in the spot you want them, then go back into AmazingText Free and delete the text.

Any of you having problems keeping the nexus charged? I have fast charge enabled and i'm using a 2.4A usb charger, the charger cant sustain the tablet most of the time, it can keep it charged while driving but the percentage doesn't go up by much and I only have a few drives before it dies, then I have to charge it at home to 100% and repeat.

This is the biggest issue I've run into so far. I have it normally connected to the USB port in the center console, however, it doesn't sustain the charge well..if at all. I have a portable 12000mAh USB charger I keep with me or just bring it in to charge. I've heard that tapping into the cigarette lighter can help keep it charged, I just haven't gotten that far yet.

Yeah this is also the only issue I'm having, everything else is perfect, is there no way to make the port in the car always on? So the nexus is always charged

Are you guys using Timurs kernel? It allows the tablet to go into deep sleep when the car is off so it doesn't drain the battery fast. On top of that I use tasker to turn on airplane mode and disable gps when the car is off, as well as xposed/powernap to prevent any wakelocks when the tablet is sleeping. All that with marshmallows doze feature I lose about 1% overnight.

Oh I see, also if I update to marshmallow do I need to repurchase the new timurs? Thanks, I will definitely try deep sleep and tasker

Yeah, but you should be able to achieve the same thing on lollipop. Here is my tasker settings that I was using on lollipop:
