The gain is no setup with the folders. Just install the VM and all the software is ready to go.

Please quit adding useless posts to this thread. If you can't understand simplifying something or making it more accessible (for example working on a Mac, Linux box) then try leaving your car in your driveway and walking to the grocery store. Then also turn off your water to your house and use a well. The well works fine, right? Why would you ever need something more accessible or simpler to use like a faucet.

Mine installs straight to the correct folders. Nothing to add, delete, move, create, etc. Only thing needed is to run the Coding Tool to update the Daten and WinKFP. It is literally self installing. I guess that's why I don't get the whole VM thing. My software pkg has none of the issues that all these other ones do.

Hi Everyone,
The VM works for me with free VMware Workstation 12 Player (Non-commercial use only) was enough for me. ISTA works and communicate with my E93 via DCAN cable. So many thanks for it! My laptop's max screen resolution is 1920x1080 and in VM full screen mode it is not enough to see the buttons below. So I changed the resolution higher in the VM now I need to scroll down but I can reach the buttons finally. It is not a big issue but if you have any other ideas share please. Maybe a full VMware Workstation would be better? I have some problems with my car for example I cannot reach the BT and USB and AUX in my CCC iDrive system since a garage replaced my RollOwer Controller what they killed when jump started the car. I hope these need to be just re-activated. I have MULF2 module and unfortunately the ISTA in Coding V3 VM cannot program it. I got "Unknown integration level detected" error message. (E89X-08-09-530, E89X-16-11-500). This cannot be handled with ISTA/P. I found some posts and they mentioned the module probably was coded/updated by a newer version of apps. As they wrote it is not enough just to update the SP-DATEN files. Is it possible to update the ISTA in the VM? Or any plan for never V4 VM? If you have any ideas let me know please. Thank you in advance. |

I found and downloaded a newer ISTA installation pack what I installed in VM so I have a working ISTA+ 4.05.31 and ISTA-P 3.61.4.002. I could read my car and the ULF-SBX module in "The programing status is 12." In Edit plan many I could not select any options like Program P, Code C etc. all grayed out. Is it possible to fix this with my DCAN cable somehow? For example choose module replacement option? My other question is what is the difference between ISTA+ and ISTA D? Thanks for your help. |

UPDATE:
I got an ICOM Next clone now and when I connected it via ODB and optical MOST too in ISTAP If I choose no module replaced and Partial programming I cannot select this fault module because grayed out still. Is it possible to program this module only? For example if I choose replaced module or somehow? All others modules seems okay. As I heard the Full programming when all control units are updated is a little bit risky. If no other chance how long the full programming will take? Do I need to connect ODB and MOST also? How about the charging? I have just a 6A battery charger. But maybe I can borrow a 18A or 30A one. Which one is enough? As I heard the BMW recommend >70A charger... Or is it possible to done the full upgrade with running engine? If programming via ISTA/P do I need to change any settings for MOST in remote.ini and EDIABAS.ini? Or change settings in ICOM? My current settings and status in ICOM: Mode: ISPI-Next state free FW: 03.15.00 System image: 01.26.00 Application image: 01.41.00 STATIC-IP 169.254.33.45 255.255.0.0 I found a post where mentioned: "Since STATIC_IP is only required for EDIABAS functionality but DHCP is a must for ISTA/P" and reverse via iTool Radar. Or it is not needed now with ISTA 4.06 (2017.05)? Sorry for lots of questions but I have never programmed my car and I just wanna fix my Bluetooth ULF module programming status is 12 problem. Programming status 12 problem solved finally. So I can use my Bluetooth and USB drive again.
ICOM Next and ISTA/P done this on MOST about 30 minutes because the modules was updated to same integration level already. I think it takes more if other modules needs to be updated to higher level. With my charger I was not able to keep stable voltage level above 13V. I charged my battery overnight before the upgrade to 12.7V and I found a garage where they have a Helvi Sprint-Car340 battery charger (max 30-45A in charging mode) and they allowed me to use it under the programming. With the slow charging mode the car got around 13.4V so we changed it to fast charging to get more than 14V. My suggestion is to be patient the progress % appeared only after 10-15 minutes. And sometimes the network traffic dropped to 0 so no worries. I choose DHCP settings and disabled the Firewall and Defender before the upgrade. Unfortunately my car's integration level was higher than in the V3 image so I could not done this with it but I learned a lot thank you very much vmhelper00 and nate16 Quote:

When I double click *********V3lite-virtualbox, it just loops over and over again on the windows loading files screen and then shows the oracle logo which allows you to hit F12. VXT is turned on in Bios.
EDIT: I left it as it was and went to bed (at like 230AM). This morning I fire up the laptop and there are no more pending updates and the template fired up just fine!!! Thanks!

I also don't have CNcoding profile in NCSEXPERT. I have CdingProfile, Expert Mode and NCS Dummy profile. What am I doing wrong? I'm using V3 lite...

Also, how do you get internet on the VM? I'm trying to transfer Rheingold files but can't seem to do that either. I have set it NAT.

I’m having some trouble having VMware open the file for the VM. It goes to load t and says windows is loading files, then crashes and does that over and over again. Could It be an issue with storage? I have about 10GB free on my HD after installing the package. Any other ideas?

What host software are you using? the NIC is turned off, you have to enable it for it to connect to the internet. Also it may be easier for you to just copy from your host to your VM than getting the VM to the internet.

Ive had great luck with this setup. V3 Full using Virtual Box with the add-on packages. However you do need to have a pretty powerful PC to get thid to start and run the Virtual Program, and then have it run fast and smoothly when you're coding/programming..
