BMW Owner Reimbursement Program

Has anyone had success with the BMW Owner Reimbursement Program?
My FRM Footwell Module had failed and was replaced by my independent shop as my 2011 335i was out of factory warranty. After the fact, I found out there was an extended warranty on the FRM module that was sent out as a TSB two years ago, so I submitted the work to the BMW Owner Reimbursement Program and they denied me for the work because it wasn't done at BMW.

Is there any way to get them to reimburse me for work done at an independent shop or no?

Thanks for any info.

That's odd, my charge pipe reimbursement was successful through BMW and that was not done at BMW.

Did you just send in the invoice and they reimbursed you no questions asked? Maybe I need to press further and speak with a supervisor...

Correct, repair bill with parts and labor from local independent shop as well as my credit card statement matching the charge that's on the bill. Mind you just like you I did not know about the reimbursement program until a year later. It was still approved by BMW. They send you a check under your name within a week.

What exactly is this owner reimbursement program for? What kind of out of warranty repairs does it cover?

It seems to be specific....where maybe something was covered by an extension of a warranty, but you paid it out of pocket? Like say Honda and brake pads on an Accord prematurely wearing, etc.?

You can type in the last 7 of your VIN. When I did it said my car was not involved in anything.

The blower motor was not recalled. Only the blower motor wiring, which is external to the blower motor.

My indie mechanic, Ress Motor Works in Indianapolis, called me the other day informing me of the same information. Said that my Jan 2010 production date fell within the extended warranty period. So I will be submitting the price of the FRM, which I installed and the cost to have my indie program. Steve

FRM Reimbursement Denied!

Replaced my FRM and had it programmed by my indie mechanic. Then BMW NA extended the warranty so I submitted my expenses. DENIED!! Apparently buying the module and installing it myself is not covered and neither was the coding cost. The letter from BMW NA says "the repair performed is not included in this warranty extension." I must have missed that in the fine print.
