Intercooler cover? Is this piece important?

Okay so I took it off when orignally wanting to remove the intercooler because thought on the 335is was a bit different... turns I probably wouldn't even have to take it off but anyways..

I wasn't able to reinstall it back and I even broke part of it I think.

Anyone has any clue as to what this is and does and if it's crucial? It went directly under the intercooler. Can't find the name of the piece on real oem.

Here are pictures of it.

Appareantly part number is 7545367-04 or 7545367. Was able to find the latter in real oem.

On Ebay it's advertised as a OEM Intercooler Sealing Seal and on real OEM it's reffered as the "sealing'.

So uhh, if anyone has any clue as to what this actually doies? What does it even seal?

Believe it is just to direct airflow to the intercooler, or more so as to not allow air to go under/around the ic but rather make sure it passes through it. Serves no other purpose that I can think of.

Oh yeah uh... if the air is not cool enough the worse that can happen is less HP?

I took it off when I put on my new intercooler. There wasn’t anywhere on the bottom of the new ic to install that piece.

Right, I figured aftermarket must not have this piece? I think I'll be ok then.
