BMS PowerBox Tuner Review - N52B25 (EURO 2.5L)

So I pulled the trigger on the BMS PowerBox Tuner a week ago, and finally had time to install it yesterday. At first, Map 3 didn't feel that great; however after driving the car for a day, it seems that the ECU has adapted much better before I installed it on the first day.

I have Scoops, K&N Filter w/ Charcoal Filter cut out. The BMS tuner is worth the $300.00 no doubt.
The car installed is the European 323i with Stage III air manifold found on the 330. The engine however is the N52 2.5L stock tuned at 200hp/180tq.
I also have the lastest MSD81 ECU factory flash for my car. No errors/No codes.

So with the added 30hp on the crank, the car feels a lot FASTER than before.
It’s no 335i but definitely damn faster than a Acura TSX or Civic SI.

I have to admit, this thing is FAST. It makes the car that much more powerful and responsive. You can actually feel the 15whp shown on the dyno result sheets. The car is much faster at all rpm bands and the initial launch is much improved from before.

I picked it up from Mike@N54Tuning.com, customer service/communication is A+. He was able to meet at my times and emailed me the instruction manual as soon as I got the unit!

I hope to see more mods for the N52 in the near future, but I have to admit. BMS effort for the PowerBox is definately a good start!

The Canadian spec 323i N52B25 comes factory with the Stage III intake with Canadian flash to 200hp/180tq.
The European 325i is the exact same engine as the Canadian Spec 323i, except the Canadian spec 323i is de-tuned for North American standards.
Where primary and secondary cats come into place. Removal of the primary cats show a 15whp increase on the dyno.

Stock Figures for comparison.
325i EUR 2005-2007 2.5 L I6 215 bhp (160 kW; 218 PS) 185 lb·ft (251 N·m)
323i CA 2007+ 2.5 L I6 200 bhp (149 kW; 203 PS) 180 lb·ft (244 N·m)

Any plans for a pbx2 or 3? Can the engine handle more power?

There isn't that much more you can squeeze out of a NA engine

if somebody can get past VANOS i am sure a lot of tuners will consider doing so, but vanos is your main problem in that category.

My friend just got it, i got a test drive in it + did some runs against a stock 328i, I can only tell you one thing..................GET IT !!!!!

The BMS pbx got a bad start from a rolling start and it STILL took the stock 328i by 3-4 car lengths, wish i have taken a video off it, even from a dead stop you can also feel the car taking off faster.

Or cams, headers, port and polish? They would be pricy though.

E46 was Vanos wasn't it? I think it's just a matter of time, I hope we see some small supercharger systems that push around 8psi... That would be sufficient.

hmmm i can't really argue if e46 was vanos or not since i am not sure, but if it was i guess its different from the e90 because i heard a lot of tuners just can't seem to get around it.

E46 had dual stepless vanos for the m3 and regular dual vanos for the regular e46, the problem in the e90 is not the vanos. The actual problem is the valvetronic. Lets hope some one can crack it soon : )

None on my side, if your driving on DS mode + Map3 and you punch it, you can easily spin the wheels
