Hi All,
I just handed in my 335i for a winter check (available in Germany) and also to sort out some other things with the car most notably the failing active cruise control which they can not fix without a separate re-calibration machine Anyway I also asked for the progman update as I mentioned problems with my key not working and also with slow iPod functionality scrolling through the artists/ songs etc. I asked for v27.02.01 after reading on this forum about it fixing the issues, they told me the latest version was v28 and that is what they installed. All I can say is the interface seems smoother and faster to respond, however I thought that the iPod interface when selecting artists for instance would be faster and show an A-Z list if it detects that you are scrolling fast through the long list - instead it shows numbers and you kinda have to guess when to stop, it is much faster than before but still not a perfect solution in my mind. Also just as a word of warning all the programmed buttons you assigned to the 8 soft touch buttons available are gone and all mpg (l/100 km) settings are reset resulting in an intital lower rating than my old 996 C4S when I picked the car up after the update Cheers, Des (TheIrishMan)

This may have been addressed a while back, but I am new to the forums and haven't seen an answer yet... I was just wondering what Progman I would probably be running in an untouched Oct 2006 production 328i w/ I-drive. I have it in the shop now, hoping that they will go ahead and update me, but I am just trying to figure out how ancient my current system is.

hey guys, my ipod classic no longer charges in the car anymore I went in for an update and the guy said "they updated" something.. but the ipod still dies in the car. i read in an apple thread that ipod classics, iphones and nano 3G all have new operating systems that idrive can't fully interface with (ie. the successful turn-off of the ipod when you shut down the vehicle). anyone else with this problem?

same here. my classic does not charge. if not fixed soon, I may just trade down for a 5G video iPod. I had no charging issues with that one. The whole point was to be able to put it in the car and never think about it again.

Got the Flash on Friday. I have about 70miles on the car and so far the only thing that changed is the power delivery. It feels as if they reshaped the torque curve. Took out a little from idle to about 2K and added to the between 3K to 6K range.
The car is not as strong starting from a stop in M2. That being said, SD is better than before. I can't remember if it started in first or second but now it starts in first and first is actually useful (even with DTC on!!). The 1-2 shifts are so fast that you lose nothing and your in the meat of the tq curve of 2nd that is even stronger (or at least it feels that way) than before. So you really can blast out of the hole. First gear used to just spin and/or just trigger DTC so much that it actually cost you time. I'm a bit torn though. I like diving into my favorite corner and dropping down to M2 via a couple of quick clicks on the paddles and then having that lowend torque pull me out with the tires tearing at the pavement. But the smoothness and overall feel is actually more natuarally asperated feeling than before. Reminds me more of my old 95 M3 the way they changed the torque curve. The CD (MP3 format) still starts from the begining of the song when the car has been off for more than an hour and the same thing with the Recirc setting. Reverts to off after the car has been off for more than 10 mins. My car is a 335 cpe May 07 build Steptronic w/sport package Maybe its not having Nav thats the problem with the CD and AC Love to hear comments from those who have upgraded to series 27 or 28 progman |

I'm sorry for asking a question that probably seems obvious to those with more knowledge of this topic, but is there any way to tell what software version my I-Drive is running? Like a secret screen or something? I'm guessing there's not, but I just thought I would ask.

iPod Classic charging problem. Apple just provided a new solution to the charging problem: iPod Classic Firmware V1.1. I just upgraded my iPod Classic to FW V1.1 and retested with the "old" cable (serial number 429 645) -> everything worked fine. The actual problem was that the iPod did not switch off after shut down of the car. Therefore the iPod's battery was drained over night. For this problem see also the thread http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ht=6fl&page=45 |

Good luck with that!
The dealer won't just update the software because you ask him to. There has to be a known problem that will be fixed by the software. BMW has gotten tough on just upgrading for the sake of upgrading.

iPod Question and a Story
A question for the members that are seeing the numbers when scrolling through a long iPod list after the latest Progman update: is this with the factory-installed iPod/USB connector or the dealer installed iPod (only) connector? I am trying to figure out what version I have. I assume got the newest (see below) but not sure.
Now the story: I took my car in to have the iPod connector installed on DEC27 2008 and got it back on JAN03 2008. When they installed the module it crashed the I-Drive/Nav (basically the whole car) and they had to get BMW to recover it (and they were closed over the New Year's weekend). Anyway, moral of the story is that like any software upgrade, sometimes something goes wrong and it can take a while to recover. This is probably why some of you have been told it could take a whole day to do the update. Oh, and BTW, this is my first post so 'Hi everyone.' I found a lot of great information on this board. I have the dealer-installed iPod adapter in my '06 e90. (I had this installed before BMW offered the factory-install option.)
Does this mean that I'll be stuck with the slow scrolling issue forever? Even with 27.2.1? |
