Back2you Tracker
Just thought I'd give a heads up on these.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GPS-Tracke...item3cbe9d50be I was fully prepared to pay £195 for one then found they were doing a 50% on ebay. Makkan talks about them in this post: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=741889 I'm not affiliated with the company at all, I just like the look of the kit! |

Worst outcome is 'Divorce'! You will be thinking wtf is he about? Yes, that is true. Somebody used this to spy his wife (No she did not had iphone) and found his car to be at certain place multiple times. Hired a private investigator and found that his wife was cheating. Guess what was the outcome? So pros and cons are there.....

And do not forget that there is geo-fencing. So if your car goes out of certain area, you get alert text.
Application is £2-3 though. Lastly, do not forget that whoever steal your car will use GPS / GPRS / GSM signal jammer.

OK, so my kit arrived yesterday.
Back2you are obviously rebranding generic Chinese kit (that I suspect you can find cheaper elsewhere) and adding their own app and support for (which may or may not be worth it). The interface of the app (which costs £2.49) isn't bad, isn't great either. You operate the Tracker by sending SMS messages to it, it's all a bit lo-fi and basic but certainly gets the job done effectively. It's really easy to use and I had it setup and running in about 20 minutes after charging. Even the "questionable if it's English" manual isn't too bad to understand. It has a pretty strong magnet that you can affix to plenty of places in the car. All in all, I'm happy with it for £100 but suspect I could have found the same functions for cheaper. |

torn between what to do!
i thought the only people who steal my car will be these criminals with the hacking of the key thing etc but then thinking deeply they will prob have signal jammers obviously so my gps tracker is pointless! but for £100 its probably worth it? |

I know somebody on this forum and his car was taken. Perhaps it was not that organised gang. When they found that car had a kit in it, then abandoned it on the road. They tried their best to find the tracker by cutting the driver and passenger side footwell carpet and taking the bottom part of rear seat out. But since they could not find the tracker, they abandoned his car. Car was found and owner had to change the front bottom carpet (and cas plus keys). Nothing was missing from the car. That car was very well specced and nicely modified. And yes modified cars are on higher risk of being taken.

I would not mind paying bit extra to have UK based distributor and support for 12 months. If you buy cheap Chinese, they are variable. Some of them hardly work.

Regardless if the car was trashed or crashed etc I would still wanna know what little f**ker stole my car and either batter them or get them done by the police at least. Also I wouldn't want to be looking at everyone in my local area thinking was it him or him or him.

However I've gone as far I can with the car, and have already identified the replacement, a 85kwh Tesla S. Only reason I haven't PX the 335 already is because I haven't got a spare 50k sitting around. But it wouldn't take much for me to break a rule of a life time and buy the Tesla on finance/lease. So if anything was to happen to the 335 I would live in the knowledge I was lucky enough to own/run a truly fantastic machine, but I'll also be looking forwards to a whole different motoring experience. |

Where I live is relatively secure area. And my car is loaded with so many things that I will find it hard to hide this tracker somewhere.
